Applications for scholarships year 2024–25 are being accepted by the University of Alberta. These scholarships are available to Canadian citizens and international students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate degrees.

Many scholarships are offered to help talented and worthy students, including fully funded ones.

The University of Alberta has partnerships in place to co-finance postgraduate students and encourage cooperation across a range of disciplines.

International students who have their education entirely funded by their governments, corporations, or other third parties are known as sponsored students.

Financial assistance for living expenses, tuition, and fees is one form of support. All scholarship arrangements for international graduate students are managed by the University of Alberta International (UAI).

Benefits of the University of Alberta Scholarship

1. For Undergraduate Programs

These grants are available to newly enrolled first-year undergraduate students who have a valid student visa permit. The $9,000 worth of scholarships must be paid back over four years.

2. For Master’s Programs

Students pursuing master’s degrees will get a stipend of $17,500, plus an additional $10,000 for expenses if they are international applicants.

3. For Doctoral Programs

These $5,000 annual awards are meant to help PhD candidates meet their tuition costs.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the University of Alberta Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Master’s Programs

1. Candidates typically need to have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution recognized by the University of Alberta.

2. A minimum admission grade point average (GPA) of 3 on most 4-point grading systems or a grade of B on most letter grading systems, based on the applicant’s most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent), is necessary.

Doctoral Programs

1. Applicants are generally expected to hold a master’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution recognized by the University of Alberta.

2. A minimum admission GPA of 3 on most 4-point grading systems or a grade of B on most letter grading systems, based on the applicant’s most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent), is required.

Additional Requirements

Certain departments may have supplementary criteria, including but not limited to:

1. Statement of research interests

2. Previous relevant work experience

3. Completion of educational tests such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), or Miller Analogies Test

4. Applicants should directly contact the respective department to ascertain any additional prerequisites.

How to Apply

To apply for the scholarship, you have to apply for admission to the university. As long as you are accepted to the school, you will get the scholarship automatically.

Required Documents for the University of Alberta

Candidates must be prepared to submit the following paperwork in order to apply:

1. Degree certificates

2. English Language Proficiency scores such as IELTS, Pearson, TOEFL, etc. (if applicable)

3. CV, statement of intent, and writing samples

4. Transcripts

5. GRE, GMAT, Miller Analogies Test, or other test scores

6. Reference letters

You will need to scan and save all your supporting documents (except reference letters) as a PDF file and then upload them directly to the online application portal.

You must upload your documents on or before the application submission deadline for the program to which you are applying.

The application deadline for this scholarship is the 1st of March, 2024.
