3. Ireland: Galway – Irish Literature, History, and Music

The summer Galway program is ideal for students interested in learning about Irish studies in a lively, student-oriented city on Ireland’s west coast. Galway’s magical combination of ancient history and contemporary culture makes it a great location for Irish studies.

The Galway program consists of one 5-week Summer session offering academic coursework in literature, history, theatre, music, and the Gaelic language taught by established Irish and US scholars.

6. IES Abroad Dublin Summer – Irish Studies

If you’re interested in learning about Ireland’s political and social history, contemporary economic issues, and literary heritage, this is the summer program for you.

On our Summer Irish Studies Program, you’ll discover the rich heritage of Ireland, as well as its contemporary culture through its art, theater, and film both in and outside the classroom.

This program offers enrollment in IES Abroad-taught courses, housing in fully-equipped student apartments, and field trips. Whatever your engineering passion, this exciting summer program gives you the opportunity to earn academic credit by conducting your own, independent research in your chosen field.

You’ll work under the guidance of one of Ireland’s leading engineering schools: the University of Limerick, home to the innovative Bernal Institute which focuses on the thematic areas such as Advanced Materials, Manufacturing and Process Engineering, and Fluid Dynamics.

The School of Engineering is research-driven, covering the full spectrum from blue sky fundamentals through to new start-up company research. 16. Peace and Conflict Studies in Ireland and the Middle East

Offered in cooperation with AMIDEAST, FIE’s five-week summer program will bring you to three of the world’s most interesting capital cities: Dublin, Belfast, and Amman.

The program begins in Dublin, using Northern Ireland as a case study for exploring how those peace and conflict theories translate to Middle Eastern issues. Travel to Belfast to speak with leaders on both sides of The Troubles and explore the issues and events which inspired the Peace Wall.

After two weeks spent in Dublin, the group leaves for Amman to study the impact of cultural and societal factors on conflict resolution and management, focusing on case studies across the Middle Eastern region. Housing for this portion of the program is with host families. There is an optional four-week Arabic language program extension in Amman in Modern and Colloquial Jordanian Arabic.

Ireland’s ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ begins in County Donegal, an area that is rich in history, culture, and stunning coastal scenery – perhaps explaining why it was voted “coolest place on the planet” by National Geographic in 2016! This beautiful location will be your base for three weeks of deep cultural immersion and experiential learning.

On this college credit program, you’ll learn about Irish history and culture, visit extraordinary places on guided field trips, enjoy fun classes in Irish language, music, and arts, and interact with teenagers from all over the globe.

You’ll also engage in group workshops and service projects in-between visits to Northern Ireland, the capital of Dublin, and some famous sites associated with civil rights and social justice.

Plus, you and your friends will get to explore castles, make lots of new friends, climb mountains, speak Gaelic, and have more fun (“craic” in Irish slang) than you can imagine!

University College Dublin is offering an exciting summer program for High School students aged 16-17 years old to experience student life in Ireland at the UCD campus.

UCD is an ideal environment for high school students to challenge themselves academically and build a college resume, while enjoying the vibrant student and cultural life of the European capital city of Dublin.

The summer school consists of a course in Irish History & culture, complemented by a variety of field trips, interactive workshops and social activities. Students live in an on-campus apartment in their own bedroom.
