Blogs in Nigeria – I’ll be honest with you, blogging is one of the most lucrative jobs currently in Nigeria. and you know one good thing about it? it’s very easy with zero stress. You can virtually work anywhere and from anywhere all you would need is just an internet connection with a good device and you’re on making a whole lot of money like most popular bloggers. basically I will be doing one thing in this article and that is showing you the top 10 best Blogs in Nigeria.

1. Linda Ikeji Blog

you’ll be making a mistake to mention blogs in Nigeria and not mention Linda Ikeji’s blog. owned by the popular Linda Ifeoma Ikeji, this blog has craved its name among popular blogs.

In August 2012, Forbes Africa devoted itself to celebrating African women that month’s issue. In that issue, Forbes profiled Africa’s 20 Most Noticeable Women and the issue featured profiles on two young Nigerian women: Linda Ikeji, as well as Chibundu Onuzo

Linda Ikeji was the leading Google Search trend in Nigeria for 2014. The name Linda Ikeji was the most frequently searched item by operators of Google in Nigeria. Ikeji was talking to by BBC on its Focus on Africa program. The interview took effect on 25 September 2012.

On August 8, 2018, Linda Ikeji was amongst well-known personalities drawn from diverse countries across several disciplines that were given with Honorary Doctorate Degree from Trinity International University in Georgia for her exceptional job in Business and Media in Africa.

Others that were given were Steve Egboro, Nigerian filmmaker and event manager, Chairman Daily Times Newspaper, Dr. Fidelis Anosike, Dr. Obeahon Ohiwerei, GMD/ CEO of Keystone Bank Limited, prominent lawyer Mike Ozekhome and few others.

 2. Jide Ogunsanya

another amazing blog we have on our list is the popular ogbonge blog that is owned Jide Ogunsanya, an entrepreneur that graduated as a microbiologist from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ogun State, Nigeria but registered in a 6 months weekend course in Java Programming at NIIT, Onitsha during his National Youth Service.

There, he was able to master some computer abilities which have been so helpful to him till this very moment.  his blog has thousands of people who come to read and especially, watch tutorials.

another notable blog is the Bella Naija Blog. it is owned by  Uche Eze, who was given birth to and raised in Nigeria where she also completed her primary and secondary school education. Uche is a Bachelor’s degree holder – Honors Business Administration (HBA) from the prestigious Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, Canada where she came out with distinction in 2006

NotJustOk is a Nigerian music download website established in June 2006 by Ademola Ogundele. With more than  1.2 million viewers each month, from 183 countries, it is one of the most visited websites in Nigeria.

Coined from Seth Godin’s book Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable, NotJustOk began as an individual blog by Ademola Ogundele in 2006.

It grew into a music website after Ademola posted a clip of 9ice’s performance at Nelson Mandela’s 90th-anniversary concert, which quickly amplified the traffic of the website. Presently with few employees; NotJustOk is managed by Ademola Ogundele and Ovie Ofugara.

Called as “a revolution in Nigerian music” by Isioma Osagie of YNaija, NotJustOk offers music and music videos from the hip hop and contemporary music genres. It also permits artists to upload their songs to the general public via an online platform called “mynotjustok”. NotJustOk was chosen as the “Best Nigerian Music Website” at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. It was also chosen as the “Blog of The Year” at the 2013 version of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Punchng.com is a website owned by the company, punch Nigeria. a  newspaper company that was established by two associates, James Aboderin, an accountant, and Sam Amuka, a columnist and editor at the Daily Times of Nigeria. Amuka was the first editor of the Sunday punch.

In November 1976, little years after the first print of its Sunday edition, some started printing their logo daily newspaper. Both editions were intended to favor a welcoming apolitical approach to news reporting, joining film of social events with time to time political news. The paper tolerates itself by exploring into broad subjects that interest countless people.

The company has a popular website (www.punchng) which has attracted countless readers all around Nigeria; it is among the most visited websites in the world.

this blog was founded by Okezie,  who began his career right just after graduating from the University of Abuja, Nigeria with a degree in Business Administration and a major in Marketing in 2005. Ever since then, he has functioned at PR & Communications agencies as well as management and recruitment consulting firms based in Nigeria, France, and the United Kingdom.

In the year 2008, Okezie was known in the Internet prominence after institution Startups Nigeria, a technology blog about Internet start-ups and products with international emphasis on Nigeria.

In June 2009, Okezie sustained his coverage of Internet firms and technology news via his personal blog and two years later, he finally re-named  his technology blog as TechLoy with the aim of becoming a foremost technology media and research firm in Africa.

the founder of this amazing blog is Noble Igwe.  Noble Igwe is the son of Sir Herbert & Lady Charity Igwe from Umuomaku in Orumba South Local Government of Anambra State.

He was born and raised in Aba, Abia State, but education took him through National High School Aba; St Augustine’s Anglican Seminary Nbawsi; Federal Government College Okigwe and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The blog moved from 360Nobs Limited to The 360Nobs Group. In 2007, he registered a business name “Noblekonsepts” and with it, he was doing his PR and events.

Due to the fact that he was still in paid employment, he didn’t register or bother with the registration of a proper company, as I did not have an office for my personal business.

However, when he started doing business with more than one artiste and more than one lounge, he decided that it would be more professional to register a firm that would play primarily in entertainment & lifestyle.

He started the business and later called in two of his good friends (Oye Akindeinde & Tonia Soares) to join him on the board as partners and directors. They brought in their special skills.

personally, I love YabaleftOnline. the have current news and am never bored when reading through their content.

The famous Instagram Blog which has about 1.8 million followers on Instagram, entered into the media scene in 2015 together with many other blogs.

But IB9ja came out top and is generally well-thought-out the most successful news blog on Instagram in Nigeria.

another popular blog on our list is Naija.com. a blog that centers news delivery of different sorts all across the country. the blog is among the visited and its content is fun to read through.

Although there is a bit of a problem as to who really has the blog, there has been rumor that is owned by an Australian, others say its a Nigerian, I wonder why an Australian will come all the way to Nigeria to open a blog, it doesn’t make any sense to them but all the same, it a nice blog.

10. Naijaloaded.com 

Naijalaoded.com is among the most visit to Nigeria. the blog basically does one thing and that is providing you with the latest music for download. it was founded by  Makinde Azeez.

In 2010, he bought a domain name, got a server, and began paying, and ever since grew from a 10,000 visit monthly to a 110 million page views monthly.

Currently, he has between 110 million and 130 million page views typically, about 15 staff members and about one million naira as salaries monthly.
