We have made explicitly the cost of studying in Ukraine you may like to know in this article.

Cost of Studying in Ukraine

Ukraine’s education system, like that of the other post-Soviet countries, has been shaped by more than 70 years of Soviet rule.

However, Ukraine has enacted numerous reforms since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, including the introduction of private education.

In 2005, Ukraine signed on to the European Bologna reforms. Whereas the standard university degree under the old Soviet system was a long single-cycle degree, the Bologna two-cycle structure has now been implemented across the board, except in professional disciplines like medicine and veterinary medicine.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, grading scale, and other aspects of the Bologna reforms have been adopted as well.

The Ukrainian educational system is organized into five levels: preschool, primary, secondary, upper secondary, and postgraduate education.

In 2010 a total of 56% of children aged one to six years old had the opportunity to attend preschool education, the Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine reported in August 2010. Schools receive 50% of their funding from the city budget and 50% from the national Government budget.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine intends to give general education schools the option to independently manage the financial resources assigned from the state budget starting from January 1, 2010.

Universities in Ukraine are multidisciplinary research institutions, public or private. They are further subdivided into “classical universities” and “specialized universities.”

Classical universities offer graduate programs “in at least eight areas of study, as well as doctors of philosophy and doctors of science in at least 12 research fields.”

As their name implies, specialized universities have a slightly narrower academic focus. They offer graduate programs “in at least four areas of study,” as well as Ph.D. programs “in at least eight research fields.”

Cost of Tuition Fee in Ukraine

Undergraduate Tuition Fee

For undergraduate programs, the tuition does depend on the language of study as well as the particular course of study, and even the university.

Courses offered in the English language are typically a bit more expensive than the very same course offered in the local Ukrainian / Russian language. Medical courses typically cost more than most other courses.

Similarly, the very same course offered by a famous university in Kiev would cost higher than when offered by a relatively unknown but quality university that is not located in the capital city.

With the exception of medical courses such as general medicine and dentistry that cost in the neighborhood of $4000 — $5000 when taught in the English language, the rest of the undergraduate courses tuition would fall within the range of $2000
— S3500.

Postgraduate Tuition Cost

A Masters Degree demonstrates innovative thinking in a subject area and builds further upon the knowledge attained during previous educational levels.

The Master’s students must write and present an original paper that demonstrates his or her ability to collect, aggregate, and synthesize data and knowledge in a subject.

The Specialist and Masters degrees are considered a complete form of higher education in Ukraine. Tuition is charged on a per-year basis rather than a per credit hour or course method. The postgraduate tuition fee goes for  $450.

• Doctorate Tuition Fee

Prospective students for Doctor’s programs should present a Master’s diploma, respectively.

Every year’s application for the official invitation letter is accepted from the first week of April to the first week of November.

Before applying to make sure you ask for detailed application information from the university international office.

Cost of Accommodation in Ukraine

Apart from the tuition, another basic payment is accommodation fees. Depending on where the student will be living, the cost would be reflective of that.

Students living in the university hostel typically pay anywhere between $300 — $1000 per annum, depending on the quality of the hostel.

Rented apartments and flats outside the campus cost more than a hostel and can be expected to cost anywhere from $200 per month upwards or a bit less, depending on the condition of the apartment.

Normally, two or more students can share an apartment to reduce the cost.

It is highly recommended for international students to live in the university hostel, at least for the first year for better adaptation and be under the watchful eyes of the hostel’s security.

Cost of Transportation In Ukraine

Also, an important item of expenditure. Usually, if you live in a university’s hostel, it is located close and you do not need to use transport to reach for study.

However, you still want to go to another part of the city, to go to have fun or travel around the country.

Transportation is also very cheap in Ukraine.

• One-way ticket in local transport (bus, tram, subway, trolley-bus, etc) will cost you $ 0.4 USD – $ 0.7 USD.

• A monthly pass for the subway starts from $ 8 USD to $ 12 USD (there are a few variations of the pass).

• A taxi will cost you $ 2 – $ 3 USD plus $ 0.45 USD per 1 km (starts from 5th km)

You can get Ukrainian Medical Insurance at the border. This insurance is not obligatory at all and may cost about $10-15 depending on the period of your stay.

There are no vaccination requirements or other special requirements for international customers visiting Ukraine.

As of medical facilities, Ukrainian standards of care are different from American or Western European standards. If you need some prescription medicine, take it with you, as only basic supplies may be available in Ukraine.

Cost of Visa in Ukraine

If you are not eligible for a Ukraine e-visa, your only option is to go to an embassy and apply for a visa there. You need to pay a fee for your submission, but that differs from country to country. As far as we know, there is no standard when it comes to this.
Even so, you should know that getting a Ukraine visa from an embassy is probably the cheapest option you have. However, you should be prepared for other expenses.
Generally, foreign citizens, applying for a visa to Ukraine are obligated to pay an official fee (consular fees).
Exemptions from paying of the official fees or other rates may be granted by agreements signed by Ukraine with other countries for nationals of such countries or persons belonging to a certain category of people e.g. children under six.
The following costs apply for the provision of:

  1. one-time entry visa document –  85 USD;
  2. two-times entry visa document – 130 USD;
  3. multi visa – 200 USD.
