About CS Lewis

Clive Staples Lewis was a British writer and lay theologian who lived from November 29, 1898, until November 22, 1963. He was a professor of English literature at both Oxford (Magdalen College, 1925–1954) and Cambridge (Magdalene College, 1954–1963) universities.

He is most known for his fictional writings, including The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Space Trilogy, as well as his nonfiction Christian apologetics, including Mere Christianity, Miracles, and The Problem of Pain.

Lewis married Joy Davidman, an American writer, in 1956, she died of cancer four years later at 45. Lewis died of renal failure on November 22, 1963, one week before his 65th birthday.

Lewis was honoured with a monument in Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey in 2013, on the 50th anniversary of his death.
