– Esthetician School Online –

Thanks to the proliferation of the internet, it has never been easier to take esthetician classes online. When looking to complete an esthetician program online, it is important to realize that no program can fully be completed in an online environment.

Esthetician School Online

Due to the nature of esthetician training, you will be required to complete some hands-on experience such as an internship in a salon to complete your esthetician license online.

Each state sets its own standards on what is required to become an esthetician and the program you choose will need to fit these criteria.

Esthetician Certification Online

Certification after esthetician training in an online school is not that much different than if you attend regular school. You must first complete the required number of hours according to the state board of cosmetology.

Only then will you be eligible to take the test. After the test, you learn whether you have passed, and can then apply for your license.

Like traditional schools, many online esthetics schools offer practice exams to help you prepare for the real one.

You have the benefit of being able to find out right away how you did on the practice test. That way you can learn from any mistakes you might have made.

By the time you are ready to try the exam for real, you could have taken several different versions of the test and so be well-prepared.

Taking esthetician courses online is a great way to get the information that you need in order to excel in your chosen field.

The option to take your classroom experience online frees up time, money, and energy so that students can focus on learning what they need to know and completing the hours required for certification.

Esthetician Courses Online

The following areas of study are commonly covered in esthetician certificate and diploma courses.

  1. Skincare and therapy: This online course will address skin physiology and disorders, in addition to skin products and applications.
  2. Skin analysis and massage: This course can cover exfoliation, face massage methods, facial mask applications and face cleansing techniques.
  3. Cosmetic chemistry: Study information about skin biology, cell physiology, emulsions and skin products.
  4. Make-up application and color theory: Review techniques for applying foundation and eye makeup as well as application tools and skin colors.
  5. Medical terminology: Go over medical terms and meanings for words and phrases that would commonly be used in all areas of the medical field for medical transcription purposes.
  6. Introduction to therapeutic massage: Learn about massage therapy objectives and principles and various massage methods and techniques.
  7. Nail care: Get basic information about manicures and pedicures as well as nail structures, nail diseases and disorders, cuticle treatments and cracked nail repair

How to Become a Licensed Esthetician

Many learners with an interest in skincare can sign up for an esthetician program, however there are requirements that must be met. This includes getting a high school diploma or GED.

It’s also important for students to have some basic competency in reading and mathematics.

In general, online esthetician programs are targeted at adults, though in most schools, students who are at least 16 years of age can get registered.

Every state varies when it comes to online education and in Washington State, a portion of the hours required for your license has been approved through online training for approved schools such as Evergreen Beauty College.

Before taking practical lessons, students must cover the theory part of the course.

The theory covers a lot of what you may be required to do as a professional esthetician, and the practical sections encompass numerous procedures including:

  1. Deep cleansing
  2. Facial massage
  3. Masks
  4. Day and evening make up application
  5. Make up for men
  6. Manicure and pedicure

The good thing about registering for an esthetician course online is that you can learn from any location; you do not have to attend the lessons in person.

Online Training Benefits for Estheticians

Being able to get esthetician certification online is easier than you think it might be. At first, the idea seems a little odd since you are not in classes with other students.

➛ Less Expensive – Since online esthetician schools have much less overhead than a physical school, they can offer their training at lower prices than traditional schools can.

You usually also have the option of using ebooks rather than traditional textbooks, which saves you a lot of money as well.

These take up far less space, as well, and students can use these electronic textbooks anywhere. Some schools also allow you to take classes the classes they wish. That could allow you to take classes as you can afford.

➛ Attend Classes Anytime – Since the online school curriculum consists of videos, assigned reading, or even webinars, the time constraints associated with traditional schools are not an issue.

You can work at your own pace, even if you need a little bit longer for some techniques or concepts than yo do for others.

Since the classes and the coursework is all online, students can log in 24 hours a day to take their lessons. This is very handy for students who work during the day, or who must be elsewhere during regular business hours. Laser schools are another matter though, and require in-person training!

➛ Multiple Methods for Learning – In a traditional school setting, students usually learn via lectures as well as by application of what they have learned.

With online schools you have discussion groups, forums, ebooks, videos, and webinars

All of these different methods offer you variety as well as reinforcement for what you learn. You can also focus more time and energy on the format that seems to work best for you.
