Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir

Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir is a singer and actress from Iceland. She’s starred in many films and TV shows such as Jar City (2006), Audur in Country Wedding (2007), Bjarnfreðarson (2009), and the TV show “See ya with Silvia Night“.

She was born on 28 July 1982.

Magnús Scheving

Magnús Scheving born “Magnús Örn Eyjólfsson Scheving” was born on the 10th of November, 1964. He’s a writer, author, producer, businessman, actor, and athlete. He’s famous for starring, directing and creating the popular children’s television show called “LazyTown” and portraying the onscreen character, Sportacus.

Magnús Scheving is the CEO of LazyTown Entertainment who are the producers of the LazyTown children show and has been aired all over the world since 2003 by Nickelodeon which is a co-partner.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is currently the holder of The World’s Strongest Man title. He is Icelandic too. Asides being a strongman and powerlifter, he is also an and a former professional basketball player.

As an actor, he is famous for playing Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in the popular HBO TV series, Game of Thrones. He is also famous for playing the on-screen character, Mongkut in the film Kickboxer: Retaliation in 2017.

Ragnar Th. Sigurdsson

Ragnar Th. Sigurdsson is an Icelandic photographer whose specialty is in landscapes of Iceland, Greenland, and the Arctic in their natural most beautiful states. 

He became famous worldwide for his viral photographs of the active volcano Eyjafjallajökull while it was erupting.

Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir, Miss World 2005

Unnur Birna (now Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir) is Miss World 2005 and also Miss Iceland 2005. She is Icelandic and incredibly has many careers such as being a lawyer, an actress, a model as well as a former beauty queen. She is also into event hosting as a compere.

She was born on the 25th of May, 1984, and she is also the daughter of former Miss World 1983 finalist and winner of Miss Iceland 1983.

Magnús Ver Magnússon, four-time winner of World’s Strongest Man

Magnús Ver Magnússon is a famous strongman and powerlifter from Iceland who won the World’s Strongest Man title an incredible four times, first in 1991 then consecutively in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

He was born in 1963.

Jón Páll Sigmarsson, four-time winner of World’s Strongest Man

Jón Páll Sigmarsson who died aged 33 years old was the first man to win the World’s Strongest Man title an incredible four times. He was an Icelandic bodybuilder, powerlifter and strongman with the reputation as being one of the greatest strongmen and weightlifter in history.

He’s credited for putting Iceland on the world map as a sporting power.

Bobby Fischer, former world chess champion, granted Icelandic citizenship on 21 March 2005

Bobby Fischer with real names Robert James Fischer was born in 1943 and died in 2008. He was born an American and a Chess Grandmaster, holding the record of the eleventh World Chess Champion. He is argued to be the greatest chess player of all time.

He later acquired Icelandic citizenship and so he is regarded as an Icelandic famous person too.

Gylfi Sigurðsson, professional footballer, currently at Everton F.C.

Gylfi Þór Sigurðsson is a professional footballer for the English Premiership team, Everton FC, and a player for the Iceland Men National Football team.

Gylfi is a mainstay for the national team and took part in the Russia 2018 Fifa Men’s World Cup. He was also part of the Iceland team which reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA EUROS 2016 which is Iceland’s first major participation in a men’s football competition.

Eggert Jónsson, professional footballer, currently at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Eggert Jónsson is an Icelandic professional football player and became popular when he played many roles in the English Premier League team, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Eggert Jónsson is regarded as part of Iceland’s golden generation of football players.

Anita Briem, actress

Anita Briem is an Icelandic actress born on May 29, 1982, who is famous for her role portraying the onscreen character, Jane Seymour on the television series, The Tudors.
