According to a newly published Forbes magazine list, Lionel Messi will be the world’s highest-paid athlete in 2022, earning $130 million.
Messi, an Argentine attacker, had a dismal individual season at Paris Saint-Germain in 2021-22, but he did assist them to win the French Ligue 1 title in April 2022.
According to Forbes, Messi was followed by LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, who made $121.2 million.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United was third with $115 million, ahead of Messi’s Brazilian PSG teammate Neymar with $95 million.
Stephen Curry, the point guard for the Golden State Warriors, was named the world’s sixth highest-paid athlete, earning $92.8 million.
Outside of football and basketball, the list included Mexican professional boxer Canelo Alvarez, American NFL quarterback Tom Brady, and Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer.
