The Nigerian Identity Management Commission is very slow in issuing a National ID card to eligible applicants. However, the delay in issuance could also result from the fact that you never tracked the progress or state of your National ID card.

The National Identity Management Commission has unveiled an online portal where Nigerians who have enrolled for the National Identity Card can check the status of their identity cards. Follow the leads below;

How to Check if your National ID Card is Ready

1. Visit the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) official website by clicking here.

2. On the menu display at the top of the page, click on + our services, a drop-down list will appear

3. Click on the + e-ID Card, and another dropdown list will appear, tap on e-ID Issuance.

4. Provide your required details such as first name, last name, and NIMIC checking ID

5. Click on the “Check Now” option.

6. The system will display the e-ID status

7. If your card is ready, you can visit any accredited center to pick your ID.

How to Get Your Mobile OTP

You can copy your OTP from the NIMC Mobile ID App. Simply click on “SECURITY PIN”, and copy the code displayed.

NOTE: Please note that the OTP expires in 60 seconds.

How to Check your NIN Using USSD Code

Below is a comprehensive guide on how you can check your NIN using USSD codes across all network in Nigeria.

Step 1: Dial the USSD code *346# on your phone

Step 2: Select NIN Retrieval option from the menu option sent to your phone

Step 3: Agree to the service charge by pressing 1. Make sure you have airtime on your phone

Step 4: Your NIN will be displayed on your screen.
