Family
Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon popularly known by his stage name, Reekado Banks was born on 6th December 1993. His father is a pastor from Ondo State, his mother is a caterer, his brother is a producer and his sister is a gospel singer, so we can say he comes from a music background. He is the last child of the family.
Education
Reekado finished secondary school at age 14 and later studied History and Strategic Studies at the University of Lagos, where he graduated with second class lower.
Career
In 2008, Reekado recorded his first set of songs which were produced by his elder brother. His stage name Reekado Banks originates from the combination of two names which is translated thus; Reekado (strong ruler) and Banks (wealth). He said was inspired by other artistes like 2face Idibia, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Olamide, M.I, and Don Jazzy.
He is presently signed to Marvin Records. He used to go by the stage name, Spicy before he signed a record deal with Marvin Records. Reekado said he joined Mavin Records through an online talent hunt organized by Don Jazzy when his elder brother submitted some of his songs without his knowledge. He was contacted, screened, selected from over 5000 song entries, and signed.
On 21st February 2014 he released his debut single with Marvin Records was “Turn it Up” featuring Tiwa Savage and this was also the day he was officially signed to Mavin Records. He later featured in a collaboration song “Dorobucci” released by Mavin Records on 1st May 2014. This song featured other artistes like Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, Di’Ja, Korede Bello, and D’Prince.
Reekado has released many other songs since then, including Katapot, Chop Am, Sugar Baby, Oluwa Ni, etc. He has performed at many events and concerts after he signed a record deal with Mavin Records, his albums keep topping the charts.
