Course Description

5. Afternoon 10

There are a range of options to suit students who prefer to take classes during the afternoons. All LSI schools offer fluency practice. These classes consolidate what you learn in the morning, improving your fluency and pronunciation through discussion on a wide range of topics.

There is an emphasis on language for everyday situations. Topics may include: film and theatre, media studies, current events, politics, local culture, research using the Internet. Other options vary, depending on the student’s level, the language, and the LSI language center location.

Please note that this course is focused mainly on communication skills. Therefore there won’t be much grammar preparation involved.

The classes stress the use of language in everyday situations. In 2 lessons each day, students will work on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary, while in the other 2 lessons, they will focus on reading, writing, speaking and listening.

7. Super intensive courses

The super intensive course is for students who want to maximize their language learning practice skills during their stay at Institut Lyonnais. The course focuses equally on communication and comprehension skills, and there are more focused lessons on Wednesdays.

The groups are composed of several students in super intensive courses or other courses, but with the same French level. The students have class in the morning or in the afternoon , except on Wednesdays when they have a lesson in the morning and one in the afternoon. This course provides an exam in the last month of class if the student books for more than 3 months.

Course Description

The Standard French course consists of 20 lessons per week of group instruction.

Teachers focus on an interactive teaching method with the goals of expanding the students’ vocabulary and knowledge of French culture and civilization; broadening his or her familiarity with grammar and its structures, as well as written expression of the French language; improving oral expression through group discussions, reading comprehension through the analysis and discussion of authentic documents and listening comprehension.

Course Description

The Intensive French course consists of 20 lessons per week of group instruction and 10 lessons of oral instruction. Teachers focus on an interactive teaching method with the goals of expanding the students’ vocabulary and knowledge of French culture and civilization; broadening his or her familiarity with grammar and its structures, as well as written expression of the French language.

Improving oral expression through group discussions, reading comprehension through the analysis and discussion of authentic documents and listening comprehension.

The 10 lessons of oral instruction occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after Standard classes. Note that during the summer high season, some Intensive and Standard courses are only available in the afternoon. 15. General Combined Programme (Group + Private Lessons) 24

Course Description

This programme will suit students who wish to benefit from the advantages offered by group courses, above all for the dynamic and motivating group environment, but also for those wishing to undertake individual classes that focus the teaching method towards the specific needs of the student.

It is the ideal mix which links quality and price for the students only having a little time to dedicate to their French and those wishing to work on particular aspects or who require French for specific purposes: business French, legal French, diplomatic French etc.

18. Flexible Summer Program

Course Description

Ideal for globe trotters looking to make a stop in Paris for two weeks or longer! You can start any Monday of the summer between July 01 and August 31. Pick the number of weeks you wish to study and let yourself immerse in the French culture in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

The program will be divided into two sessions, one from July 01 to August 02 and the second session from August 06 to August 30. If you are a total/complete beginner, you must start from the beginning of either session.

The program will include an intensive course every day from Monday to Friday + one cultural workshop from 2pm to 4pm once a week.
Some of the workshops we will offer during our summer program are:

  • French Music workshop
  • History of Art workshop
  • History of Paris
  • Pronunciation
  • Conversation, etc.

Our groups are small with a maximum of 9 students and the method is conversation-based. We offer a relaxed and casual atmosphere in our school, the ideal set up for the students to feel comfortable enough to speak French. The social activities will also help the students meet other students from all corners of the globe.
