Chemical Engineering Scholarships: Currently, there are numerous chemical engineering scholarships and financial grants around the world.

Chemical engineering is that aspect of engineering which deals with the design and operation of industrial chemical plants. It is technical and professional education; therefore it entails more investment than other courses.

1. Betty Shanahan Scholarship

The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology, and computer science.

2. Anne Maureen Whitney Barrow Memorial Scholarship

Application Deadline: May 15th

Awarded once per renewal cycle. 1 @ $7,000 Renewable 5 yr. max.
Open to Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior students. All Engineering majors.

You must be planning to study an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology, or computing in the upcoming academic year.
You must be planning to attend full time (exceptions are made for reentry and non-traditional applicants).

3. NASF Scholarships

Application Deadline: December 9th

NASF’s educational foundation remains committed to helping undergraduate and graduate students interested in studying chemical engineering, material science or engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, environmental engineering or chemistry.

Scholarships to college juniors, seniors and graduate students are offered in the amount of $1,500. Candidates must demonstrate academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities.

4. Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program

Application Deadline: April 12th

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program (WU Scholars) is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue post-secondary education.

Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution and will be selected based on criteria relating to the program’s three pillars: Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community.

6. EPA Tribal Lands Environmental Science Scholarship

Application Deadline: June 15th

Awarded to college students pursuing academic programs in the following: Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Toxicology, Environmental Economics, Chemical Engineering, Hydrology, Biochemistry, Entomology, and related environmental disciplines.

7. Summer Fellowships

Application Deadline: January 1st

Candidate’s qualifications: The award shall be made without regard to sex, citizenship, race or financial need.  It shall be made to a graduate student pursuing work between the degrees of B.S. and Ph.D. in a college or university, and who will continue their studies after the summer period.  A previous holder of an award is eligible for reappointment.

8. F.M. Becket Memorial Award – Summer Fellowship

Application Deadline: December 31th

The award shall be made without regard to sex, citizenship, race or financial need. It shall be made to a graduate student pursuing work between the degrees of B.S. and Ph. D. in a college or university, and who will continue his or her studies after the summer period.

A previous holder of the award is eligible for reappointment. Qualifications shall not be waived in case no candidate qualifies for the award within any one calendar year; instead, the funds normally allotted shall then be added to the investment capital for the awards.

It is intended that the recipient should feel he or she is uniquely an ECS Summer Fellow during the period of his or her fellowship; to this end, he or she is required to not hold other named fellowships.

9. Calvin College/The James Bosscher/SAE Engineering Scholarship

Application Deadline: December 31th

Student Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen enrolled in the engineering program and who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and potential.

10. University of Detroit Mercy/College of Engineering & Science/SAE Engineering Scholarship

Application Deadline: December 31th

Student Eligibility: Applicant must be an incoming freshman or transfer student admitted directly into an engineering program at UDM. Selection will be based on academic and leadership achievement.

Terms: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded each year. The scholarship may be renewed for one additional year if a 3.0 GPA is maintained and the student remains in the engineering program.

12. Bechtel Corporation Scholarship

Application Deadline: February 1st

It is awarded to an active SWE Student Member in her sophomore, junior or senior year, majoring in chemical, architectural, electrical, environmental or mechanical engineering.

All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in an SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made.  Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or above.

13. Extrusion Division/Lew Erwin Memorial Scholarship

15. Carlson Caspers 1L Diversity Scholarship Program

Application Deadline: March 1st

Carlson Caspers’ Diversity Scholarship Program annually provides up to two $5,000 scholarships to prospective law students who are pursuing or who have obtained a degree in chemistry, physics, life sciences, pharmacy, engineering, or computer science and who are committed to practicing intellectual property law in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.

17. MMSA/SMEF Presidential Scholarship

The Mining and Metallurgical Society of America and the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration Foundation offer one significant scholarship (MMSA/SMEF Scholarship) on an annual basis to an outstanding student whose study program encompasses any aspect of the extractive minerals industry.

19. WAAIME Scholarship

Application Deadline: February 5 (Annually)

On an annual basis, the Women’s Auxiliary to AIME (WAAIME) Scholarship fund provides scholarships to students pursuing degrees in the earth sciences as related to the minerals field. Fields recognized by WAAIME may include mining, geological sciences, metallurgy, petroleum, mineral sciences, materials science and engineering, mining economics, chemical engineering, and other related studies.

The number and amount of scholarships awarded yearly shall be dictated by the funds available and by the financial needs of the applicants.

Students are eligible to receive a maximum of two years of funding from WAAIME. The two years may be two undergraduate years, two graduate years, or one undergraduate year and one graduate year

20. Department of Defense (DoD) Scholarship

Application Deadline: May 1st

The Department of Defense (DoD) mission of STEM is to foster an interest in and raise awareness in the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics nationwide to ensure an educated and well-prepared workforce.

In support of this mission, the DoD has partnered with Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to offer twenty-five (25) full scholarships to qualified high school graduating seniors.
