The politics in policy Implementation in Nigeria.

INTRODUCTION

The entity called Nigeria was born in the year 1914 as a British colonial construct, but after decades of colonial domination attained independence, Sovereign and Republican status in 1960 and 1963 respectively.

Our society is ordered and steered, towards desired end goals for the state through policies. Public policies therefore play a vital role in the development or under-development of a given state.

Whereas there has been no lack of public policies in the Nigerian state since independence, the paradox of government policy implementation has continued to militate, in the country.

The reason being that most government policies either end prematurely at the formulation state or are purposely designed not to be religiously implemented or simply poorly-implemented to benefit only a section of the society.

The focus of this study (long essay) therefore is to critically investigate the character of the Nigerian state and unravel the politics that envelopes public policy implementation in this country.

The birth of democratic government in Nigeria on May 29, 1999 was greeted with high hopes and expectation sin the belief that a new dawn had eventually been ushered.
