FSU Acceptance Rate 2021 Update

If you ask me I would say the FSU acceptance rate is one of the most important headings on this page. Because, if you want to get in, the first thing to look at is the acceptance rate. This tells you how competitive a school is and how serious their requirements are.

Florida State is a highly rated public university located in Tallahassee, Florida. It is a large institution with an enrollment of 29,040 undergraduate students. Admissions are fairly competitive as the Florida State acceptance rate is 36%. Popular majors include Psychology, Finance, and Marketing.

Florida State University 2021 Admission Requirements

Like I said Florida State University admission is more selective with an acceptance rate of 36%. This means you will have to put in the work.

Because the majority of the applicants admitted to Florida State University have an SAT score between 1290 and 1410 or an ACT score of 29 and 32. The application deadline is March 1 and the application fee at Florida State University is $30.

Admissions officials at Florida State University consider a student’s GPA an important academic factor. An applicant’s high school class rank, when available, is considered but letters of recommendation are not considered by admissions officials at Florida State University.

Also, SAT/ACT scores are highly considered. Including Resumes and Essays are added bonuses. Admissions are open to First-Year Applicants, Transfer Applicants, Graduate Applicants, International Applicants, and Professionals.

First Year Applicant Requirements

First Year Applicant Requirements

To be a first-year applicant means you’re a freshman. And to be a freshman means that you are currently in high school (with or without any completed college classes) or you are a high school graduate who has not attended any college after high school, prior to entering Cal Poly.

FSU picks the brightest students from Florida and around the world to join their institution each academic year. To be among these few, you have to follow the process below.

How to Apply

In addition to the FSU acceptance rate, Florida State makes it easy for students to apply by giving them several options. You may apply through Common App, the FSU Application, or the  Coalition Application.

It’s important to remember that students should only submit one application for admission. Florida State does not have a preference as to which application is submitted.

To apply for the University Honors Program, students should select Yes to the question “Are you interested in applying to the University Honors Program?” on the admissions application.

By selecting Yes, a separate Honors supplemental application will appear on the Application Status Check. For detailed instructions on how to complete your supplemental Honors Application, visit the Honors website. To be considered for the University Honors Program, you must complete the Honors Application by December 6, 2020.

If you plan to major in dance, film (animation or production), music, studio art, or theatre, contact the academic department directly for specific major requirements.

Step By Step Application Process

  1. Self-report all ACT and/or SAT scores.
  2. Link your SSAR by copying the 32-character code from your SSAR account.
  3. Choose one essay question and upload your essay.
  4. Upload one resume/list of activities.
  • Complete the Residency Declaration form.

ACT/SAT Information

FSU, along with Florida’s 11 other public universities, is subject to Florida Board of Governors admissions regulation 6.002 which requires first year students seeking admission to submit an ACT or SAT test score.

All first year applicants are required to submit at least one ACT and/or SAT test score. Florida State does not require the optional ACT writing score or the optional SAT essay.

FSU allows students to self-report their SAT and/or ACT scores through the Application Status Page.

Since accuracy is critical, students must have a copy of their SAT/ACT score report(s) available to reference when self-reporting their scores. If admitted, students will be required to submit official score reports prior to enrollment at FSU.

Essay & Resume Requirement

As I said earlier the essay and resume are not required but highly recommended, because they provide another opportunity for FSU to learn more about you. The essay should be no longer than 650 words, and may be uploaded after the student’s application has been received. Applicants should choose one topic from the list provided.

Please note that The Common Application provides different essay prompts than the FSU and The Coalition applications. The resume should be no longer than two pages, and maybe uploaded after the student’s application has been received.

It should include a list of activities such as (but not limited to) service work, employment, family contributions such as caring for siblings or sick relatives, and extracurricular and summer activities.

Application Dates and Deadlines

Applications were available for Fall 2021 session on August 1, 2020. Application for Financial Aid was open on October 1. December 1 was the deadline for Priority Application & Materials.

February 18, 2021, is the Decision Day. Admissions Deposit & Orientation Registration will be due on May 1. Classes Begin for Summer on June 21 and for Fall on August 23.
