Also, for Graduate applicants, admission requirements vary in respect of the degree program. So you will have to choose a degree program to get your admission requirements.

General Undergraduate Requirements

Due to the Quinnipiac Acceptance Rate, they consider many factors when reviewing your file for admission. These include grade patterns, specific courses taken throughout high school, and AP credits you have earned.

They pay special attention to your most recent work to get a sense of your academic strengths and achievements, especially as they relate to the program you’ve applied to.

There are no specific criteria, strong applicants typically demonstrate:

  • At least a “B” average or a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3                   
  • SAT scores in the range of 1080-1300 or ACT scores in the range of 22-28

Required of all Students:

  • High school transcript
  • A personal essay on a topic of particular meaning and interest to you that tells us who you are and speaks to your values, goals, and aspirations as a student
  • At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or someone who can reflect on your dedication and work ethic
  • 4 years of English
  • 3+ years of mathematics (4 for physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing and physician assistant applicants)
  • 3+ years of science (4 for applicants to the School of Health Sciences and School of Nursing)
  • 2 years of social science and foreign language
  • 3 academic electives

Test Score Policy

Quinnipiac is “test-optional” for most majors, but we encourage you to share your SAT and/or ACT scores with us, if you wish to do so. Find more details below.

Self-Reported Test Scores

Scores reported in the testing section of this application (self-reporting) will be considered in the admission decision and scholarship process.

If you wish to apply test-optional, do not write in your scores on the testing section of your application. Applying test optional is not available for some programs. See below for additional details.

Official test scores are optional if you are applying to majors in:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • School of Business
  • School of Communications
  • The School of Engineering
  • School of Health Sciences (recommended for some programs)

Recommended Test Scores

Quinnipiac Acceptance Rate

Official test scores are recommended, if available, if you are applying for:

  • Dual-degree BS in Athletic Training/DPT (4+3) program
  • Dual-degree BS/Doctor of Physical Therapy (3+3 and 4+3 tracks) program
  • The Dual-degree BS/Master of Occupational Therapy (4+1.5) program
  • School of Nursing

Advanced Standing Credit

Quinnipiac grants credit for Advanced Placement (AP) courses completed in high school. To receive consideration for credit, applicants must take the AP exam and receive a minimum score dependent on the course.

Quinnipiac also gives credit for college courses completed as part of the high school curriculum. Applicants must request that an official college transcript be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for evaluation.

Courses completed with a grade of “C” or higher, which are part of our regular curriculum, will transfer.

If students have taken an IB curriculum, we will consider awarding advanced standing for higher-level courses, based on a minimum exam grade of 4.

Requirements for other Undergraduate Applicants

If you are applying as a transfer, international or military student, additional admissions requirements may apply to you.

General International Graduate Requirements

As stated earlier, for Graduate applicants, admission requirements vary in respect of the degree program.

However, International students are generally required to meet up with certain criteria before they are eligible to choose a course program and proceed to fulfill the admission requirements for the program.

For your application to be considered complete, you must submit:

  • The completed application form
  • $45 application fee
  • Resume
  • Letter of intent
  • Two professional references
  • Official post-secondary transcripts
    Candidates holding degrees from foreign institutions must provide notarized English translations of their academic records.
  • Course by course credential evaluation (WES or ECE Preferred)
  • An official copy of your TOEFL or IELTS exam score or documentation of successful completion of ELS Level 112.
  • Official Statement of Financial Support and supporting documentation
  • A copy of your passport or national identification card

Incomplete Applications

Applications that are not complete by the specified date of the term for which admission is desired will be placed in an inactive status.

A written request is needed to reactivate an application. Applicants whose files are more than one year old must reapply.

 Materials received from applicants who do not complete their application, who are not admitted or who are admitted and do not matriculate are held for one year before being destroyed.

Required Forms

English Proficiency

Documented English language proficiency is required. All applicants from non-English-speaking countries must also provide an official Test of English as a Foreign Language scores.

In general, a minimum TOEFL Internet-based score of 90 is required for admission (or 233 for computer based, or 575 for paper based).

In lieu of TOEFL, applicants may submit International English Language Testing System scores. A minimum score of 6.5 on this exam, a B or above on the Certificate of Advanced English or a C or above on the Certificate of Proficiency in English is required. TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for two years.

In lieu of IELTS or TOEFL Exams, applicants can submit successful completion of ELS Level 112.

Standardized Test Scores

Quinnipiac requires the following standardized admission tests:

  • MBA programs require the GMAT or GRE exam.
  • MAT programs require Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core).
  • Law school programs require the LSAT. (If accepted to the School of Law, the GMAT is not required for application to the joint law/business programs.)

1. What percentage of students live on campus?

Approximately 5,000 undergraduate students (72%) live in campus-owned properties; 95% of first-year students live on campus.

2. Are first-year students required to live on campus?

New first-year students entering Quinnipiac in the Fall 2021 semester are required to live in campus housing for their first 3 years of study.

In general, first-year and sophomore students live on the Mount Carmel Campus and upper-class students live on the York Hill Campus, in the Whitney Village apartments or in university-owned houses. 

3. Is housing guaranteed for all 4 years?

Housing is guaranteed for the first 3 years and on a space-available basis in the senior year.

4. Can first-year students have cars/vehicles on campus?

First-year students who live on campus are not permitted to have a car/vehicle. All students may use our free campus shuttle service, which makes convenient stops on all 3 campuses and at nearby shopping centers and restaurants, as well as the New Haven train station.

5. What is the first-year student class distribution?

Our first-year class consists of about 1,800 students who represent about 30+ states and 20+ countries, and have an average GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
