ICFJ/WHO Safety Reporting Fellowships Program

With the support from World Health Organisation ICFJ is offering up to 12 Safety Reporting Fellowships for Journalists. Priority will be given to journalists from low- or middle-income countries.

ICFJ works at the nexus of journalism and technology, building the expertise and storytelling skills of reporters worldwide. Through our work, journalists are enhancing news coverage and connecting more deeply with their audiences. As a result, we are increasing the flows of reliable, trustworthy news – a cornerstone of healthy democracies. We believe that better journalism leads to better lives.

Journalists who apply for the fellowship must be fluent in English.

Scholarship Description:

  • Applications Deadline: August 17, 2018
  • Course Level: This fellowship is available for Journalists.
  • Study Subject:The fellows will deepen their understanding of injury prevention and sharpen the skills needed to cover this often under-reported topic by attending a two-day workshop ahead of the event.
  • Scholarship Award:The 2018 Safety Reporting Fellowship program will cover all fellowship-related costs, including travel to the conference, accommodations and registration.
  • Nationality: Priority will be given to journalists from low- or middle-income
  • Number of Scholarships: Up to 12 scholarships are available.
  • Scholarship can be taken in the USA

Entrance Requirements: 

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • ICFJ invites journalists from all over the world to apply for the Safety 2018 Reporting Fellowship.
  • Journalists who apply for the fellowship must be fluent in English. Priority will be given to journalists from low- or middle-income Please note that preference will be given to those who haven’t participated in a WHO training workshop before.
  • Selection will be based on the journalists’ professional qualifications, relevant experiences such as demonstrated interest in the topic of injury prevention or road safety, English-language proficiency, and endorsement by a newsroom manager.

English Language Requirements:

  • Journalists who apply for the fellowship must be fluent in English.
