Waterloo Mathematics Global Scholarship, which is fully funded and sponsored by the University of Waterloo in Canada, is presently accepting applications from eligible students.

The Waterloo Mathematics Global Scholarship

Incoming undergraduate students from other countries who hold a study permit can apply for one of ten scholarships offered by the University of Waterloo in Canada.

These scholarships range in value from $12,000 to $25,000 each and are spread out over eight academic terms.

However, they are only available to those who are enrolling in any program within the Faculty of Mathematics, with the exception of Software Engineering Computing and Financial Management.

In order to continue receiving scholarship payments beyond the first year, students must maintain an overall academic average of 80% or higher and remain enrolled in an approved program.

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate an interest in mathematics or computer science beyond the standard course requirements.

This can include active participation in math or computer science clubs, pursuing enriched mathematics studies, engaging in employment or volunteer experiences related to the field, or having hobbies related to math or computer science.

International students are eligible for the scholarships.

Entrance Requirements

The applicant is required to meet the following criteria:

1. They must have been admitted to the program with the college’s priority in mind.

2. They must be an incoming student who is beginning their academic year.

3. They must possess good character traits, exhibit leadership qualities, and maintain a positive attitude that aligns with the University’s mission statement.

4. They must be an international student.

5. They must demonstrate a financial need.

6. They must have accepted an unconditional offer of admission for the 2018-2019 academic year.

7. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must submit a completed application for both the program admission and the scholarship. (Applicants seeking the scholarship must also submit an application for the academic program they wish to enroll in.)

English Language Requirements

In case English is not your primary language, you will be required to demonstrate that your proficiency in English is proficient enough to enable you to excel in your studies.
