WAEC Registration Process for Schools and Private Candidates

This is to inform the general public, schools, parents and students of the registration process of the WAEC’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE for school and private candidates.

About West Africa Examination Council & WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is an examination board established by law in 1952 to determine the examinations required in the public interest in the English-speaking West African countries.

It also conducts the examinations and award certificates comparable to those of equivalent examining authorities internationally. The council has contributed to education in the Anglophonic countries of West Africa.

They also formed an endowment fund to contribute to education in West Africa, through lectures and aid to those who cannot afford education.

About WASSCE

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE is a type of standardized test in West Africa. Students who pass the exam receive a certificate confirming their graduation from secondary education.

It is administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and only offered to candidates residing in Anglophone West African countries.

The academic school-leaving qualification awarded upon successful completion of the exams is the West African Senior School Certificate.

WAEC Registration Process for School Candidates

The step we are about to discuss is not for WAEC candidates. But for school owners who are to register their students. And this is the e-Registration system.

The West African Examinations Council e-Registration System is a user-friendly online registration package. And it is for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Also, it allows Secondary Schools in Nigeria to register their candidates online through the Internet. E-Registration can be done by secondary school owners by visiting www.waeconline.org.ng.

Documents like Timetable and Syllabus for the examination could easily be printed or downloaded by the School Authorities during e-Registration.

Steps for WAEC e-Registration

The following are the steps to take for this process:

Offline Registration

As a student, you don’t have to visit the WAEC Website for registration. The following are the steps your school should follow:

You can then download the syllabus, timetable and registration template. Then the registration process continues.

However, the Examination Officer could then use the PIN (Personal Identification Number) on the Scratch Card or Pay Voucher to sign up as a new user.

Bio-Data Requirements for Online Registration

NOTE: WAEC registration process, selection of approved school name, passport upload, selection of subjects and fingerprint or thumbprint capture is done with digital personal on WAEC official website.

Registration Process for Private Candidates

The WASSCE for Private Candidates 2021 – Second Series will be an urban-based examination. Thus, Thirty-Six (36) subjects would be available for the examination.

Intending candidates for the examination are, therefore, strongly advised to visit the Council’s corporate website (www.waecnigeria.org) to confirm available examination towns and subjects before obtaining the registration PIN.

WAEC GCE normal registration period is from June to July. And during this period, candidates are expected to pay a registration fee of Thirteen Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty Naira (N13,950) only.

This is to be paid at branches of the following banks or any accredited agent and get the Registration PIN and Information VCD:

Additionally, obtain the registration PIN and the information VCD. Also, candidates will be required to pay a Five Hundred Naira (N500.00) commission to the banks/accredited agents.
