It is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world, currently standing at 15th according to top Universities and 3rd in the US according to the US News due to its distinguished reputation and excellent academic standards.

Yale University provides numerous scholarships in the form of financial aid, with approximately 63% of undergraduate students, including international students, receiving financial aid.

Graduate scholarships, on the other hand, are offered through individual departments, each with its own funding policies.

Fully funded scholarships are common for PhD students, covering full tuition, hospitalization fellowship, and an annual stipend.

Scholarship Coverage

1. Yale University provides need-based scholarships that cover up to 100% of the demonstrated financial need of the student’s family.

2. The scholarship amount is determined based on the income, assets, and financial situation of the student’s parents.

3. Scholarship awards based on demonstrated financial need can range from a few hundred dollars to upwards of $70,000 per year, with the average scholarship amount exceeding $50,000.

4. Additionally, for students whose parents earn less than $65,000 per year, the scholarship covers tuition, room, and board, meaning they won’t have to pay anything.

Eligibility Criteria for Yale University Scholarships

To be considered for a Yale University Scholarship, applicants must meet one or more of the following eligibility criteria:

Obtain TOEFL scores of at least:

  • 100 on the internet-based test
  • 600 on the paper-based test
  • 250 on the computer-based test
  • Achieve IELTS scores of 7 or higher, or Pearson Test scores of 70 or higher.

1. Meet eligibility requirements for the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch program (FRPL) or be eligible to participate in the program.

2. Have received or be eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver.

3. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be enrolled in a program that helps students from low-income families, such as TRIO programs like Upward Bound.

4. Be under the legal guardianship of a state or be an orphan.

5. To qualify, the annual income of the applicant’s family must meet the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.

6. Live in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home, or be homeless.

7. Have a family that receives public assistance.

8. You need to provide a statement of support from an official at your school, a college access counselor, a financial aid officer, or a community leader.

How to Apply

1. Two recommendations from teachers.

2. Submission of an $80 application fee, or request a fee waiver if eligible.

3. Standardized test scores must be submitted.

4. Recommendation and school report from a counselor, including a transcript.

5. Submission of a final report.
