The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is a Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions. The board conducts the entrance Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for prospective undergraduates into Nigerian universities. The board is also charged with the responsibility of administering similar examinations for applicants of the Nigerian public and private monotechnics, polytechnics, and colleges of educations. What is a Computer Mouse?

A computer mouse is a hand-controlled electrome-chanical device for interacting with a digital computer that has a graphical user interface [Monitor]. The mouse can be moved around on a flat surface to control the movement of a cursor on the computer display screen. Equipped with one or more buttons, it can be used to select text, activate programs, or move items around the screen by quickly pressing and releasing one of the buttons (“clicking”) or by keeping a button depressed while moving the device (“clicking and dragging”). Most modern mice use optical sensors that have no moving parts. Though originally all mice were connected to a computer by a cable, some modern mice are cordless, relying on short-range radio communication with the connected system.

What are the Uses of a Mouse?

  • Below is a list of the functions of a computer mouse, to give you an idea of what you are supposed to use the mouse fro during your JAMB exams.
  • Move the mouse cursor – The primary function is to move the mouse pointeron the screen.
  • Drag-and-drop – Once something is selected, it can also be moved using the drag-and-drop
  • Hover – Moving the mouse cursor over objects with hoverinformation helps discover each object’s function.
  • For example, hover the mouse over the “hover” link to see an example.
  • Scroll – When working with a long document or viewing a long web page, you may need to scrollup or down. To scroll, use the mouse wheel, or click-and-drag the scroll bar.
  • Open or execute a program – Once you’ve moved the pointer to an icon, folder, or another object clickingor double-clicking that object opens the document or executes the program.
  • Select – A mouse also allows you to select text or a file or highlight and select multiple files at once.
  • Perform other functions – Many desktop mice also have buttons that can be programmed to perform any function.
  • For example, many mice have two side buttons on the thumb portion of the mouse.
  • The button closest to the palm can be programmed to go back to the previously viewed web page in a browser.

Other Ways you can Prepare for your JAMB Exams

Below is a list of other ways you can prepare for your JAMB CBT Examinations, if you have a hang of how to use a mouse and a computer system.

1. Revise your Textbooks and Past Questions Regularly:

For an examination JAMB, you have to bring your game to the table because that’s what determines your admission into the university. Pick up past questions from at least 5 years beforehand, and study carefully. You should also make study notes to help organise your written materials into sub-headings, bullet points and diagrams as too much written stuff can be off-putting.

2. Get Enough Reest to Quell Exam Anxiety:

When exams are upon you, it’s difficult for you to think about anything else. Take a few deep breaths and try as much as possible to be well rested prior to your examination day. 3. Sleep Well the Night Before your Exams: Sleep is very essential. In as much as you want to spend enough time revising and getting work done, it is absolutely necessary to sleep well the previous night because lack of sleep can contribute some amount of stress which might put you in a bit of instability for the exam.

4. Avoid Caffeine on the Morning of your Exams:

Caffeine is a stimulant and even though it makes you feel good for a short term, it gives you migraine in the long run. Avoid caffeine drinks including coke, energy drinks and coffee because at the end of the day it makes you urinate and you really do not want to get up each minute to the bathroom as you write on the day. If, however, you must have coffee, try as much as possible to add enough cream to it. 5. Have a Light Breakfast: Eating too much on a regular day is not advisable for anyone because it makes one weak and lazy. Studies have also shown that students that skip breakfast experience a 20-40% of thinking skills, and so it is not also advisable to skip breakfast. But before your exam, eat as light as possible so that you don’t get too heavy and slow, or sleepy.

6. Learn Time Management:

Time management is key to a successful living. Stress often comes from the belief that you are running out of time to prepare; therefore by allocating time blocks for each important topic nothing will be missed and your worries will disappear.

7. Develop a Psitive Mental Attitude and Pray:

A positive mental attitude is another way to prepare for your exam. The minute you start having negative thoughts, it begins to work against you. To overcome failure, you have to first set your mind to it then back it up with prayer. There is nothing that a right attitude and prayer cannot do.
