– JAMB Marking Scheme –

JAMB Marking Scheme will be entirely different from previous years. Are you writing JAMB this year? If your answer is YES, then you at the right page.

If your answer is YES, then you at the right page. The article below will guide you on how JAMB will mark, score and grade candidate result 2024.

Are you interested in knowing this? Then, read below.

JAMB Marking Scheme

So many candidates and parents have been asking me questions about how Jamb 2022 would be marked or scored since Jamb has reduced the number of questions to be answered in the examination. Some questions go like;

What is the total mark of JAMB?
How many points do I need to pass JAMB?
How many correct answers do I need to pass JAMB?

Yes, Jamb has reduced the number of questions to be answered in Jamb 2020. However, Jamb scores will still be marked over 100%. That’s saying that the total score for Jamb 2020 is 400 and the highest you can get is 400/400.

One aim of this article is to refresh JAMBite mind on the fake belief that JAMB Marking Scheme is a scam.

You should take note that in the years 2014 & 2015, 70% of jamb candidates who took part in the JAMB-UTME examination scored below the 180 point aggregate.

JAMB UTME Subjects Combination

Note that the JAMB UTME Examination subject comprises of the following which is listed below:

1: Use of English – Which is mandatory for all candidates.
2: Any three relevant subjects – which fully depends on the choice made by the candidates.

You should know the Use of English comprises 100 questions.

While the other three subjects, according to the candidates’ course, is made up of fifty (50) questions each.

Also, take note that the JAMB examination is made up of 300 questions.

JAMB Marking Scheme: Allocated Time

The time frame which is given by JAMB to candidates to answer all the 250 questions is 3 Hours 30 Minutes.

Marks Allotted for Each Subject.

You should note that each subject in the Jamb examination carries 100 marks, which makes the examination a total of 400 marks for the four (4) subjects (That is, if you answer all the questions correctly)

Candidates can score as high as 400 over 400. It is very possible to score this, but have you ever seen or heard of anyone scoring as high as 400/400?

Jamb Negative Marking (Do Jamb take part in Negative Marking)

There has been lots of speculation about this issue. Some people are with the notion, while others oppose that the notion of JAMB using a negative marking scheme.

What is Negative Marking

In negative marking, if you fail or wrongly answer a question, it will automatically cancel one right answer.

However, we want to make it extra clear here today on this website that JAMB does not support Negative Marking. In Jamb, you’re graded with the exact mark you answered correctly.
