The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is a Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions

 The board conducts entrance Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for prospective undergraduates into Nigerian universities.

The board is also charged with the responsibility to administer similar examinations for applicants to Nigerian public and private monotechnics, polytechnics, and colleges of educations.

All of these candidates must have obtained the West Africa School Certificate, now West African Examinations Council, WAEC, or its equivalent, National Examination Council (Nigeria), NECO.

The pioneer Registrar was Mr. Michael Saidu Angulu who served from inception in 1978 to 1986.

Every year, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board conduct an examination that determines if a student will be admitted to higher education.

 A record of over 2.1 million candidates registered for the 2020 examination.

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is only valid for a year and with a grade range between 0-400

 After the conduct of the year’s examination, the board sit and deliberate on the cut-off mark for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, with some institutions requiring higher marks.

About JAMB Matriculation List

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has launched a portal where undergraduates of various institutions can check whether their admissions are recognized by JAMB or not.

It is important that you confirm your name from the matriculation list. Only candidates whose names are on this list are recognised as bonafide students from the various accredited institutions.

By implication, if your name is not on this list, your application to the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC scheme for the one-year National service shall be declined.

What Happens if Your Name is not on the List?

1. If you have been admitted to study in any accredited tertiary institution and your name is not on the list, it simply means that your admission is not valid as it has not been recognized by JAMB.

2. It means that you won’t be mobilized for NYSC when it is time.

How to Qualify for Matriculation List:

1. Accept Your Admission on JAMB CAPS and Print your JAMB Admission Letter Online from the e-Facility Platform.

2. Print your JAMB Result Slip Online from the e-Facility Platform.

3. Verify the two documents with the admission officer in your Institution.

How to Check JAMB Matriculation List

Follow the procedure outlined below to check your JAMB matriculation status.

  1. Go to the matriculation list portal at https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/checkmatriculationlist.
  2. Select your examination year.
  3. Enter your JAMB Registration number where required.
  4. Finally, click on ‘Fetch My Details‘.

How to Add Your Name:

If your name is not on the matriculation list after checking using the procedures given above, then follow the procedures below to sort it out;

  1. Go to the JAMB website (e-facility platform),
  2. Print your JAMB result slip and JAMB admission letter,
  3. After printing the documents above, give it some times your name will be automatically added to the JAMB matriculation list.
  4. Submit a copy of your JAMB admission letter to your institution if you did not submit it during your 100l admission clearance.

NOTE: If you did not get admission directly from JAMB, which means printing your JAMB result slip cannot help you; if at all you wrote the JAMB exam. Don’t worry, even if you didn’t write JAMB there’s still a way out.

So, if you don’t have a JAMB result or if your admission is not direct from JAMB, what you should do is called JAMB Regularization. JAMB Regularization will sort it out.
