JEE Main 2021/2022 Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

Before filling the application form candidates will have to satisfy themselves with the eligibility criteria that they are eligible for the paper for which they are applying for.

Here in this article, we have provided the information about the officially announced JEE Mains 2021 Eligibility criteria.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) is a national-level examination that will be conducted to provide admissions in various undergraduate engineering courses in IITs, NITs, and IIITs.

JEE Main Eligibility 2021

Below, we have mentioned complete details about JEE Main 2021 Eligibility Criteria to appear in the examination. Candidates should fulfill the given eligibility before JEE Main Application Filling.

Age Criteria:

  • Age Limit: There is no age limit prescribed to apply for JEE Main 2021.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates must qualify for their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Subjects: Candidates must have to take a minimum of 5 subjects in the 12th/equivalent examination. Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2021 must have passed class 12th with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects.
  • Passing Marks: There is no prescribed percentage to appear in the examination. Candidates having passing marks can also apply.
  • Appearing Candidates: If a candidate appears in the 12th or equivalent class in 2021 are also eligible for JEE Main 2021.
  • NIOS candidates can also apply for this exam. Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination students are also eligible.
  • Diploma Holders: To appear in JEE Advanced, a diploma holder can apply in JEE Main 2021. But their rank & score in JEE Main will not be considered for admission in NITs & CFTIs.
  • No board marks will be taken into account for calculating JEE Main score from the year 2018 onwards.
  • For B.Arch (Paper 2): Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics subjects are mandatory in the 10+2 exam. Candidates should have secured 50% aggregate in the qualifying exam.

Passing Year Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates who have passed the 12th class or equivalent exam in 2018 or 2019 (not before 2018) are eligible to apply for this exam.
  • If candidates have appeared in a 12th or equivalent exam in 2017 but did not cleared in 2017, but passed in 2018 are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have passed the 12th exams in 2017 or before or appearing in 2021 or later exams are not eligible to apply for JEE Main 2021.
  • If candidates qualify for the 12th exam in 2019 & appear for improvement in 2021 for one or a few subjects, then the top 20 percentile cut-off for 2019 will be considered.
  • However, if a candidate writes all the subjects in 2021, then the best of the two performances will be considered.
  • Candidates also note down that for the percentile system, total marks obtained in all the five subjects of the mark sheet are required for JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

Eligibility for Admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs:

  • Minimum Marks: For admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, candidates should secure a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST students) in the qualifying examination or must be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th examination conducted by respective boards.
  • Subjects combination required in the qualifying exam for admission in engineering & architecture courses are mentioned below:

Eligibility for Paper 2 (B.Arch):

As per the notification released by NTA, we have mentioned below the eligibility criteria for paper 2 (B.Arch):

  • Qualifying Exam: Applying candidates must have passed the 12th level from a recognized board or university.
  • Marks Qualifications: Students must have passed the 12th level with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  • Qualifying Subjects: In the 12th level, the student must have passed with an aggregate of 50% marks and 50% marks in PCM subjects.

Eligibility for (B.Plan):

Check below the eligibility criteria for the B.Plan course:

  • Qualifying Exam: Applying candidates must have passed the 12th level from a recognized board or university.
  • Marks Qualification: Students must have passed the 12th level with Mathematics as a mandatory subject.
  • Qualifying Subjects: In the 12th level, the student must have passed with 50% marks in
    Mathematics and 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying exams.

List of Qualifying Examinations (QE) for JEE Main:

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/
    University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least a 3-year duration General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
