NECO Syllabus 2021/2022 for All Subject - SSCE and GCE

We have received so many requests for the National Examination Council, NECO syllabus. Many candidates have asked for the June/ July NECO SSCE Syllabus and the Nov/Dec NECO GCE Syllabus respectively.

N/B: NECO does not prepare candidates for its examination by establishing secondary schools or tutorial centers, and no such institution is affiliated with the Council.

However, NECO uses the Nigerian Secondary school syllabus to set the questions for their examination. While for private candidates a syllabus brochure is provided when you make payment for the Exam.

We are therefore currently compiling and editing the syllabi to produce them in an electronic downloadable form. When completed, the NECO syllabus for all subjects will be provided here for download in PDF format.

Please, bookmark this page and check back a little later….

Meanwhile, you can access the complete WAEC Syllabus here online

Brief History of NECO

In 1997, the Abacha administration set up the Etsu Nupe panel to re-examine the Nigerian education system.

In the same year, vision 2020 was set up by the Federal Government with a committee on review of Nigeria’s education system.

Both the Etsu Nupe panel and the vision 2020 committee observed that in spite of the drastic reduction in its workload, WAEC’s challenges still persisted and therefore recommended the establishment of an indigenous examination body parallel to WAEC as Nigeria’s home-grown alternative examination body.

The harmonized report of the two committees was published in January 1998. The published report was presented at the 46th meeting of the National Council on Education (NCE) held at Abeokuta Ogun state in March 1999.

However, it was where a resolution to upgrade the National Board for Educational Measurement (NBEM) into a full-scale national examination outfit of the same standard as WAEC was passed.

The WAEC and NECO syllable is almost the same and can be used by candidates preparing for any of the exams.
