WAEC Biology Specimen 2021: This page contains the list of Biology Specimen and materials that will be used for the May/June 2021 Biology Practical Examination. All you need to do is to stay focus and follow me.

The West African Examinations Council is an examination board that conducts the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, for University and Jamb entry examination in West African countries.

2021 Official WAEC Biology Practical Specimen

Instructions to Schools:

1.Great care should be taken to ensure that the information given below does not reach the candidates either directly or indirectly before the examination.
2. Each candidate should be instructed to bring to the examination room:
(i) sharpened drawing pencils (preferably 2B) at least 15 cm long;
(ii) an eraser,
(iii) a ruler

A) Each candidate should be provided with the following groups of specimens:

Group I (For all candidates):

Specimen A – Clayey soil.
Specimen B – A solution of one part of egg albumen mixed with two parts of water in a test tube/beaker.
Specimen C – Mushroom (freshly plucked).
Specimen D – Giant land snail.
Specimen E – Transverse section of ripe pawpaw fruit.
Specimen F – Transverse section of ripe tomato fruit.
Specimen G – Fresh pod of cowpea plant.
Specimen H – Complete, green pod of Pride of Barbados plant.
Specimen J – Fresh okra fruit.

Group II (For candidates in Ghana only)

Specimen K – Adult cockroach (dead).
Specimen L – Ny.lph of cockroach (dead).
Specimen M – Egg case of cockroach/ootheca.
Specimen N – Moss plant in a Petri dish.

Group III (For candidates in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Liberia)

Specimen P – Potassium permanganate solution.
Specimen Q – Granulated sugar (100 g) in a beaker.
Specimen R – 5 – day old boiled egg with shell intact stored in a warm place/rotten egg with shell intact. Specimen S – 10 ml of lime/lemon juice in a test tube.

 NOTE:

(i) All specimens can be provided as group specimens for five (5) to ten (10) candidates;
(ii) All specimens in each group must carry individual labels (e.g. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and J in Group I).

(b) It is essential that each candidate should be provided with the following materials:

(i) glass jar cover/Petri dish;
(ii) beaker;
(iii) dropper;
(iv) hand lens/magnifying lens;
(v) scalpel/ blunt knife;
(vi) iodine solution;
(vii) sodium hydroxide solution;
(viii) copper
(II) tetraoxosulphate
(VI) solution;
(ix) tea spoon;
(x) stop clock/ watch;
(xi) spatula;
(xii) forceps;
(xiii) ink pad containing ink moderately;
(xiv) white paper/tissue paper;
(xv) white tile.

REPORT FORM

Report Forms are provided separately on which you are required to:

(a) supply the necessary information about the specimens;
(b) report on any difficulty in the conduct of the examination;
(c) report any particular difficulty experienced by any candidate during the conduct of the examination, especially if the examiner would be unable to discover this from the scripts;
(d) carry out and record experimental observations as directed in the Report Form.
5. You must enclose a completed Report Form in each envelope of the script.
