This is because you will respond to up to twenty children. And they will expect more than your mere presence. They will expect your enthusiasm and involvement. Also, they will expect your leadership and friendship.

However, the above is exactly what will be tested in your interview for this position. Also, it will be checked whether you have realistic expectations about the job and stamina–both physical and mental.

Let’s have a look at some questions they will ask you.

What is an Interview?

An interview is essentially a structured conversation where one participant asks questions, and the other provides answers.

However, in common parlance, the word “interview” refers to a one-on-one conversation between an interviewer and an interviewee.

Also, an interview may also transfer “information” or answers in both directions. Additionally, interviews usually take place face-to-face and in person.

In some, the parties are separated geographically, connecting by methods such as video conferencing otelephone interviews.

Also, interviews almost always involve spoken conversation between two or more parties. In some instances, a “conversation” can happen between two persons who type their questions and answers.

Who is a Camp Counselor and What Does He or She Do?

Camp counselors work in a hands-on, fully immersive setting with children. And this is especially in summer camps. Also, summer camps typically revolve around outdoor activities.

Camp Counselors may be called upon to teach and lead activities. Also, they are to identify and show others how to recognise poison ivy, treat insect stings, settle disputes, make smokes around a campfire, or supervise a busload of screaming campers.

However, while there may be a daily routine of activities, note. Specific tasks in the camp counsellor job description vary according to campers’ needs.

Also, they require patience, compassion, respect for others, and a willing attitude.

Camp Counselor Interview Questions 2021 and Sample Answers

Below are some top Camp Counselor interview questions 2021 and sample answers:

1. How would you handle a conflict between campers?

Sample Answer:
It depends a little bit on the situation. For example, if it was a minor disagreement between two campers who wanted to use the same paintbrush during an art activity, I would speak with both of them and either find a second paintbrush or ask them to take turns.

Also, if it was a more serious conflict involving bullying or hazing, I would separate the campers and immediately speak with the director for advice and guidance.

2. What qualities do you have that would make you a great camp counsellor?

Sample Answer:
I think the most important qualities to have as a camp counsellor are a positive attitude, the willingness to try new things and respect for everyone.

Also, I know I might need to cook breakfast, lead a hike, referee a soccer game and break up a fight all before lunchtime, so I think those qualities are vital for performing well as a camp counsellor.

3. What age group do you like to work with best?

Sample Answer:
I love working with elementary age kids. They’re so excited to try unfamiliar things and love making new friends.

Also, they’re able to communicate their wants and needs clearly, which is great, but they’re also learning about big ideas and emotions.

Additionally, it’s inspiring to be a part of it. I did an internship last semester at a local elementary school, so I have some experience working with this age group in a professional capacity.

4. Describe a time you had to step up and be a leader

Sample Answer:
In my sophomore year of college, I was working on a group project for my geology class. In our first group meeting, everyone bickered about who should do what and how to structure our project.

Also, in the next meeting, I established roles for everyone in the group and assigned clear expectations. And I ran every meeting we had until we turned our project in.

We ended up getting an A on our assignment.

From the above, keep in mind though that you may get also more technical questions. Equally, share the above information with your family and friends. I wish you good luck. You will need it.
