The Energy Commission of Nigeria
In 1982, during their meeting in Conakry, the Heads of State of ECOWAS agreed to create an organization called the Energy Commission.
This organization would have a branch in each member state, and it would be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all energy-related activities within that state.
The expectation was for these Energy Commissions to work closely with the African Energy Commission on behalf of their respective countries.
Today, almost every country in the world, regardless of their level of development, has established a National Energy Commission as a means of organizing and managing their energy-related efforts.
General Qualifications and Requirements
Individuals seeking employment with the Energy Commission of Nigeria must have one of the following qualifications:
1. Hold a B.Sc, HND, NCE, or OND in any field from a recognized institution.
2. Be under 35 Years Old.
3. Have a West African School Certificate (WASC) or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) with at least three (3) credits, including English, and at least two (2) passes in other subjects.
4. Have a National Examination Council (NECO) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level with at least four (4) passes obtained in one sitting, or at least five (5) passes obtained in two sittings, including English Language.
5. Have a National Diploma (ND) issued by an accredited institution, a National Certificate of Education (NCE) issued by an accredited institution, or a General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) with two (2) subjects passed in one sitting or three (3) subjects passed in two sittings.
6. Be competent in using a computer.
