Hey! Ghanaians, the 2022 Armed Forces Recruitment has commenced already. Have you got a passion for the job? If yes, this article is for you. Here you will learn about the step-by-step guide involved in how to apply for the Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment in 2022.

Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment 2021/2022 Application Form Portal

The Ghana Armed Forces is the unified armed force of Ghana, consisting of the Army, Navy, and Ghana Air Force. The GAF are supervised by the Ghanaian Ministry of Defence.

This recruitment guide will give answers to questions like;

General Eligibility

  1. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Be of good character.
  3. Be not less than 20 years and not more than 25 years by 02 June 2014 for Regular Commission and not more than 30 years by 30 April 2014 for Short Service Commission.
  4. Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces standards.
  5. Be not bonded.
  6. Be not married (for Regular Officer Candidates only).
  7. Be of a minimum height of 1.68m (5’ 6”) for males and 1.57m (5’ 2”) for females.
    For military police only; the minimum height for male applicants should be 1.75m (5’9’’) and 1.70m (5’7’’) for females.
  8. Must have one of the following:

(a) Six credits (Not less than C6 ) including Core EnglishCore Mathematics and Core Science at WASSCE.
(b) Six credits (Not less than D) including Core EnglishCore Mathematics andCore Science at SSSCE.
(c) Five credits (Not less than 6 ) including EnglishMathematics and Scienceat GCE –O level and not less than D in three subjects at GCE A-level.

How to Apply

  1. Acquire a scratch card at FIFTY GHANA CEDIS (GH¢ 50) from the designated regional post offices.
  2. Scratch gently to reveal the pin code. The scratch card can be used three times until a record is successfully submitted.
  3. Log on to the recruitment portal @ http://www.gafrecruitment.com
  4. Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.
  5. Click on the Apply Now tab to open the applicant authentication page.
  6. Enter your card serial number, pin code and select your preferred arm of service, type of commission, and click submit.
  7. Enter your personal details and take note of the following from Pages 1 to 3:
  8. Page a. Select your desired vacancy and provide all other required data.
    b. Upload a scanned copy of your passport-sized photograph of dimension (200 x 180 pixels), enter a valid e-mail address, personal mobile phone number in the format (233244123456), and enter any other required data.
    c. Enter your WASSCE/SSCE Index number, WASSCE/SSCE results slip serial number and select a tertiary institution from the list of schools. Enter your graduating GPA/CWA and provide all other required data. Upload only scanned copies of the following: WASSCE Results Slip and First Degree Certificate (Degree, HND). 
  9. Click on the preview button to see a summary page of all data provided. 
  10. Read through this page carefully and click on the back button, if there are any modifications to be made.
  11. Click on the submit button and expect an instant e-mail and text message, which includes your unique system generated Identification Number.
  12. Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it if you are shortlisted. However, if you lose your copy of the final report, go back to the recruitment portal, click on the Check Details tab, enter your unique identification number sent to you by SMS/e-mail and order a reprint.

NB: Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE/SSCE results in slip, and First Degree Certificate) to be uploaded, should not exceed 1 Megabyte and should be in JPEG picture format only.

Shortlisted Applicant Update

If you’ve been shortlisted, then you’ve got your foot in the door. And it’s time for you to shine at the final stage – the interview.

However, when shortlisted:

  1. Endeavor to get information about the company.
  2. Also, ensure you have a clear vision. Try to figure out why you want the specific position. And how you would be a good fit. Also, go through your application.
  3. Additionally, be interactive. It’s an interview, not an interrogation. There is much more to you than your resume.
  4. The practice goes a long way. Thus, take mock interviews with your friends or practice speaking before a mirror.
  5. It’s rare, but sometimes you do get an offer letter directly based on your application. You start planning the celebration, but remember some points before you go into that party mode: Get it in writing.
  6. Also, go over the written offer in detail. And make sure all important details are mentioned and ask questions if you don’t understand anything. Such as work profile, start date, duration, stipend, etc.
  7. Send a thank-you letter to the employer, once you accept the offer.
  8. Also, follow up with an e-mail confirming your start date and expressing your enthusiasm for your new role.
