Many Universities Voted For Strike To Continue… Report has it that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will hold a National Executive Council meeting this week to determine the direction of the ongoing national strike action.

All branch chairmen are expected to be in Abuja today for the meeting which is expected to end on Saturday.

The branches of the union yesterday held a meeting to vote whether the strike should continue or not. It is based on these votes the Executives of the union will decide on Whether or not to continue with the strike action.

The President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi when contacted to comment on the development said he will only speak after the executive meeting.

However, one of the Branch Chairmen of the union from a university in the southern part of Nigeria who spoke to newsmen said, “From the Southern part of the country and some parts of the North, universities voted for continuation of the strike; but we cannot tell now until after the meeting of NEC.”
