1. NDLEA not Discriminating Against PWD in Recruitment 

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismissed claims of marginalization of Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in the ongoing recruitment exercise.

Head of public affairs, NDLEA, Mr Jonah Achema, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

4. NDLEA Seizes More Than 1-Tonne Hard Drugs, Secures 27 Convictions In Oyo

Oyo State chapter of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said that in the last six months it has seized tones of narcotic drugs, psychotropics, jackknife, one cartridge, a local pistol among other items in the state.

The development was confirmed to newsmen in a statement a while ago by the state agency commander, Josephine Obi, who noted that the hard drugs and other items were seized between January 2021 to June 23.

5. NDLEA Files Drug Trafficking Charge Against 25-Year-old Man

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday, filed a one-count charge of drug trafficking, against a 25-year-old man, Joshua Benson, in a Federal High Court in Lagos.

According to the charge signed by the prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, the defendant committed the offence on June 28.

The NDLEA alleged that Benson was arrested in Ajah area of Lagos, with 45 bags of Cannabis Sativa, which he unlawfully trafficked.

Hemp is listed in the schedule of the NDLEA as a restricted narcotics similar to Cocaine and Heroine.

6. NDLEA: How Drug Traffickers Operate During Coronavirus Lockdown

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has revealed how traffickers of illicit drugs have been circulating cocaine, heroin, cannabis and other psychotropic substances in Borno amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

NDLEA State Commander Mr Joseph Icha told newsmen in Maiduguri on Monday that traffickers of illicit drugs no longer stay at identified dark spots where the operatives of the agency often raid them.

7. NDLEA Arrests 188 Suspected Drug Peddlers in Rivers

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Rivers State Command, has arrested 188 suspected drug peddlers in the state.

This was disclosed yesterday, in Port Harcourt, by the agency’s spokesman, Mr Emmanuel Ogbungbada, saying that the figure comprised of 167 male and 21 female.

Ogbungbada added that NDLEA had, under the period in review, secured 24 convictions of drug offenders in the state.

8. NDLEA Restates Commitment to Tackle Pandemic of Substance Abuse in Anambra

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA ) has extolled Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state for his dogged and relentless fight against drug and substance abuse coupled with various initiatives put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The commendations came on the occasion of this year’s United Nations (UN) celebration of International Day Against Illicit Drug Abuse and Trafficking at the Command Headquarters in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

9. NDLEA Says Synergy, Cooperation Most Effective Strategy for Drug-Free Society

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Sokoto State Command, has solicited for public engagement to end the ugly trend of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the state.

Mr Yakubu Kibo, the NDLEA Commander in Sokoto State, made the plea at a news conference on the occasion of the 2020 World Drug-free Day in Sokoto on Friday.

Kibo said that the essence of the day was to appraise the activities of stakeholders in drug control, raise awareness among members of the public and to recommend further necessary action to create a drug-free society.

10. Kaduna Identifies Measures for Curbing Drug Abuse

The Kaduna State Bureau for Substance Abuse, Prevention and Treatment (KADBUSA) has identified measures for curbing the high prevalence of drug abuse in the country.

Dr Joseph Maigari, Director-General, KADBUSA made the disclosure to journalists at an event to mark this year’s International Day Against Drugs and Substance Abuse in Kaduna on Friday.

The theme of this year’s International Day Against Drugs and Substance Abuse was “Better Knowledge for Better Care”.

11. NDLEA Arrests 150 Suspected Drug Addicts in Ondo

Ondo State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has disclosed that no fewer than 150 suspected drug addicts were arrested in the state between January and June this year.

Also, the command disclosed that a total of 7, 702.114kg of hard drugs, comprising 7, 653.445kg of cannabis Sativa, 48.669kg of psychotropic substances and 0.06grams of cocaine were seized by the agency within the same period.

12. NDLEA Secures 18 Convictions in 11 Months in Gombe

A total of 18 convictions have been secured by the Gombe State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) between July 2019 and June 2020 for various illicit drug-related offences.

Gombe State Commander of the NDLEA, Mrs Nnodim Akuchinyere, gave the statistics to Journalists in Gombe, on Thursday, during a press briefing to commemorate the 2021 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which is being celebrated on 26th June of every year with the theme for 2021 as ‘Better Knowledge for Better Care’.
