St. Catherine of Siena was born in Italy in 1347. She became a third-order Dominican, learned to read and write, and was well-known for her charitable work and political activity.

She strove for Church unity and was devoted to the Pope. She died on April 29, 1380, at the age of thirty-three, and was afterward elevated to the rank of Doctor of the Church.

The Dialogue is her most well-known spiritual work. Her remarks, while being almost 600 years old, are still relevant today and might serve as a springboard for our own prayer.
