France – South Africa Scholarship 2023 Application Update
France – South Africa Scholarship, which is fully funded by France Government, is presently accepting applications from eligible students.
The France – South Africa Scholarship
The France – South Africa Scholarship Program is designed to enhance and promote extensive academic exchanges between France and South Africa. It follows a rigorous selection process to identify outstanding candidates.
Considering the contrasting academic calendars of the Southern and Northern hemispheres, scholarship recipients will be enrolled in a specific program in South Africa from February 2024 to July 2024.
This program includes online French courses facilitated by the network of Alliances Françaises. Depending on individual profiles and available opportunities, it may also involve internships with French companies located in South Africa.
Scholarship Offer
A comprehensive scholarship package comprises the following provisions:
1. For Master’s degree programs, the scholarship duration ranges from 10 to 22 months.
2. For doctoral (PhD) studies, the scholarship is granted for a maximum period of 3 years.
3. In the case of PhD programs conducted under co-supervision or cotutelle, the scholarship will be awarded specifically for the periods spent in France, as outlined in a designated timeline.
4. In instances where the PhD or Master’s curriculum necessitates coursework conducted outside of France, applicants must provide detailed information regarding these arrangements and their intentions during the application process.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
1. Must hold citizenship of South Africa, Lesotho, or Malawi.
2. Must have been born on or after January 1st, 1994.
3. Must meet the admission requirements for the desired Master’s or Doctoral program.
4. Must be enrolled in a French Higher Education institution to pursue either a Master’s degree or PhD.
5. In addition, a few higher education institutions located on the African continent also offer eligible Master’s and PhD programs.
Required Documents
To complete the scholarship application, you are required to submit the following documents:
1. A fully completed online application form.
2. A copy of the passport.
3. An updated résumé that provides a comprehensive academic history.
4. A cover letter detailing the candidate’s motivations and interests in the proposed academic project.
5. Copies of academic degree certificates (applicable to Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees only).
6. University transcripts from the last two years of study.
