The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat 2023

The President of Ghana Scholarship Secretariat sponsors a scholarship program that provides financial support to deserving postgraduate students in Ghana’s public tertiary institutions.

Local awards are in the form of thesis payment and bursary grants, while foreign awards cover scholarships for study abroad.

The scholarship program aims to assist students in need who excel academically, particularly those studying Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

Eligibility for Scholarship

1. The applicant must have secured admission to a local tertiary institution.

2. The applicant must have registered for and enrolled in the relevant course.

3. The institution must hold accreditation from the National Accreditation Board (NAB).

4. Both private and public local tertiary institutions are eligible for the scholarship program.

2. Click on the ‘Sign Up’ button to create an account and register.

3. Fill out the application form, and upload necessary documents such as academic transcripts, admission letters, and academic certificates.

4. Take an online aptitude test and await scheduling for a selection interview in your chosen district.

Mode of Application

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration oversees all scholarship offers received through Bilateral Cooperation Agreements.

The Scholarship Secretariat’s involvement in the administration of these scholarships includes the following:

1. Advertising the scholarships on the Secretariat’s website, notice board, and in a newspaper with nationwide circulation.

2. Receiving and reviewing applications based on the eligibility criteria.

3. Conducting interviews and selecting candidates through a committee.

4. Submitting the chosen candidates to the awarding country for further evaluation.

5. Informing successful applicants of the scholarship awards.

Application Deadline

May 15th of each academic year.
