McGill University and the Mastercard Foundation are happy to offer full scholarships to economically challenged and academically gifted Master’s students from Sub-Saharan Africa through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
This scholarship program is made to sponsor outstanding, community engaged students to attend university who otherwise would not have the opportunity, as such, encouraging the development of future Sub-Saharan African leaders and entrepreneurs.
The central aim of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is to create a globally educated and highly qualified group of future leaders, who after graduation, can return to Africa and home country to help foster the region’s development.
Scholars also undertake guidance and funding for two internships in their home countries at the time of their studies.Eligible applicants are advised to meet these criteria: Have not completed any graduate studies;
Be appointed by a professor of a recognized Mastercard Foundation Partner University, or be nominated by a present McGill Professor or Staff Member.
Be a citizen of and is known to live a significant part of your life in a Sub-Saharan African Country;
Have an extraordinary record of service and activity in your school and/or community;
Have plans to return to home country upon the completion of your degree with the aim of transforming your community through social and economic development;
Display that your financial status is in the lowest two quintiles of your country. The deadline of this scholarship is on the February 4, 2019.
The McGill University is proud to award two type of scholarships i.e. One-year entrance scholarships. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and Major entrance scholarships. Awards range in value from $3,000 to $10,000distinctively.
There are two different types of entrance scholarships: the One-year, where eligibility is solely based on academic achievement, and the renewable Major, based on excellent academic achievement as well as leadership charisma in school and community activities. Competition for entrance scholarships is at its peak at McGill.

Applications are accepted for Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships at McGill University in Canada for the academic year 2018-19. Two Millon Postdoctoral Fellowships will be offered to promising and desiring young scholars in the Humanities. Eligible applicants are advised to meet these criteria they should Scholars who have received their PhD after June 2015 or who will have completed all PhD degree requirements by June 1, 2018. While interdisciplinary applications are mostly welcomed, research projects must be based in Humanities. Applicants who do not have their PhD in view at the time of application have to attach a letter from their Department Chair specifying the date of their dissertation defence. Successful applicants who do not complete all requirements for their PhD by June 1, 2018, will have their offer of award withdrawn and denied.

Scholarship worth: The fellowship worths an annual salary of $52,000 CAD and enrollment in the McGill University employee benefits program. In conjunction, there is an annual research allowance of $8,500 and up to $2,500 per year to bring a visiting speaker. Relocation charges will be reimbursed up to $1,000.
