The Microsoft Disability Scholarship

The Microsoft Disability Scholarship aims to support and empower high school students with disabilities in pursuing higher education and pursuing careers in the technology industry.

They grant this scholarship to a high school senior who has a disability (as defined by WHO), intends to enroll in college, and demonstrates financial need.

Applicants must declare their intention to major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field.

Scholarship Eligibility

The Microsoft Disability Scholarship is devoted to recognizing and supporting outstanding high school seniors with disabilities who have aspirations of enrolling in vocational or academic colleges and pursuing a fulfilling career within the technology industry.

These scholarships are renewable, meaning that recipients who maintain the eligibility requirements can receive an annual award of $5,000 for up to four (4) consecutive years, resulting in a potential total scholarship amount of $20,000.

In 2023, eight (8) scholarships will be granted to deserving individuals.

Requirements for Microsoft Disability Scholarship

To be eligible for consideration for the Microsoft Disability Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

1. You must currently be a high school senior living with a disability, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO). This includes disabilities such as visual, hearing, mobility, cognitive, speech, or any other recognized disability.

2. Your plan must involve attending an undergraduate program at a 2-year or 4-year University/College or Technical College in the academic year following high school graduation.

3. You must declare a major in an approved field, which includes engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related discipline (such as paralegal, pre-law, finance, business administration, or marketing).

4. A genuine passion for technology should be demonstrated.

5. You should exhibit leadership qualities either at school or within your community.

6. Your high school cumulative GPA must be 2.5 or higher.

7. Financial assistance is required to pursue your college education.

8. You must be enrolled as a full-time or half-time student.
