The Monash Juris Doctor Law Dean’s Scholarship is granted to an exceptional student who will enhance the vibrant and inclusive learning environment of the JD program.

This scholarship specifically supports Indigenous students pursuing the Juris Doctor degree, honoring their remarkable accomplishments.

The scholarship is dedicated in recognition of the notable Monash Law School alumni, Professor Michael Dodson AM, and his daughter, Inala (Dodson) Cooper.

Their achievements and contributions are honored through the establishment of this scholarship.

They hold the distinction of being the first Aboriginal parent and child to graduate from Monash Law School, and their accomplishments are recognized through this scholarship.

Their significant contributions to the Indigenous community and Indigenous affairs are recognized and celebrated through this scholarship.

Eligibility for the Scholarship

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

1. The applicant must hold Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship, Australian permanent residency, an Australian humanitarian visa, or be an international student.

2. The applicant must be a newly admitted postgraduate student at Monash University, intending to enroll or already enrolled as a full-time Monash Juris Doctor student at the Monash Law City Campus.

Eligible Countries

The scholarship is open to both Australian and international citizens, allowing applicants from both backgrounds to be eligible for consideration.

Eligible Course

1. The Juris Doctor Program offers a scholarship opportunity for postgraduate studies.

2. Eligible applicants should have successfully completed, or be on the verge of completing, an undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification recognized for admission to the Monash JD program, with a minimum GPA of 6.9/7.0 or an LSAT score exceeding 170.

Selection Criteria

1. The scholarship is granted on the basis financial need.

2. Applicants are required to submit a video application showcasing how the scholarship will empower them to accomplish their goals and contribute to fostering a dynamic and uplifting learning atmosphere.

3. The video may highlight aspects such as industry/life experience, cultural background, and extracurricular activities.

Program Benefits

1. The scholarship is granted based on outstanding academic performance.

2. It encompasses coverage of the tuition fees paid and an additional $1000 per annum, reflecting the minimum credit points required for degree completion.

3. International students in their first year of study receive an additional one-time payment of $3000 to assist with travel and relocation expenses.
