– PCNAF Young Women Scholarship –

The Peace Corps Nigeria Alumni Foundation (PCNAF) is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into their PCNAF Young Women Scholarship for female students. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

Scholarship Description

The Peace Corps Nigeria Alumni Foundation (PCNAF) is now offering two awards to promising female college students of Nigerian heritage in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, with a strong commitment to contributing to the development and prosperity of Nigeria.
The scholarship program was created in an effort to help ease the financial burden of students with outstanding academic and leadership potential who are facing difficulties securing the funds needed to complete their undergraduate studies because they have an international student visa and cannot seek outside employment to finance their education.
Upon receiving their scholarships, the scholars will be expected to actively support the mission of PCNAF for at least one year. Activities will include participating in a leadership development mentoring program and speaking to students at area schools about the need for educational reform in Nigeria.

Award Value

The winner of this award may expect to receive $2,000.

Level and Area of Studies

Undergraduate program in all available subjects at the university.

Place of Study

At one of the following U.S institutions: the University of the District of Columbia, Prince Georges Community College, Baltimore City Community College, Community College of Baltimore County, Morgan State University, Coppin State University, Bowie State University, Montgomery College, University of Maryland, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Towson University, College of Southern Maryland and George Mason University.

Eligibility 

1. Applicants must be Females who are citizens of Nigeria.

2. Applicants must have an international student visa (F1).

3. Applicants must be enrolled as a full time students at a participating institution

4. Applicants must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

5. Applicants must have a documented need for financial assistance.

The following documents are required during application:

1. A completed scholarship application,

2. An official academic transcript (most recent)

3. The Financial Aid Worksheet

4. Copy of the international student visa

5. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member

6. A letter of recommendation from someone outside the educational institution

7. Responses (150- 200 words) to each of the three essay questions
