Playford Trust/Codan Scholarship is now open for applications from suitably qualified students. It is a fully funded scholarship for all students sponsored by Flinders University.

About the University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.

The Playford Trust in partnership with Clean Seas, offers a two-year scholarship to a student commencing their third-year of undergraduate studies and who is prepared to undertake a fourth year of study in aquaculture, at one of South Australia’s three public universities.

The Scholarship is valued at $10,000.

Requirements for Playford Trust/Codan Scholarship

Applicants must be:

1. Ready to commence third-year undergraduate studies and is prepared to undertake a fourth year of study in aquaculture at one of South Australia’s three public universities.

2. Prepared to develop skills and enhance their industry participation by undertaking an 8-10 week paid work placement with Clean Seas over the summer vacation before their third and fourth year of studies.

3. Have a passion for sustainable aquaculture.

4. A great communicator, have a sense of purpose about the scholarship and being an ambassador for Clean Seas within the university sector and be aligned to Clean Seas values.

5. An Australian citizen or a holder of a permanent resident visa and resident in South Australia.

6.Intending to spend a significant part of their career in South Australia, or be likely to provide a benefit to the State.

7. A high achiever, with an excellent undergraduate academic record of good character. Preference will be given to students who display leadership potential.

Selection Process

The Trust will consider nominations from students studying at one of the three South Australian universities, and reserves the right to accept or reject nominations.

Clean Seas and the Playford Trust will jointly make the final selection.
