Rutherford Scholarship, which is fully funded and sponsored by the Alexander Rutherford, is presently accepting applications from eligible students.

The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship

The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship is a program that provides financial aid to Canadian high school students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and qualifications.

The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship was created several years ago to honor the memory of Alexander Rutherford, who was Alberta’s inaugural Premier and Minister of Education.

The scholarship program was named after him as a way to commemorate his significant support for public education.

Thousands of Canadian students have benefited from this program since its inception.

Requirements for Alexander Rutherford Scholarship

1. You must be a Canadian citizen or a long-time resident of the country.

2. Prior to submitting your application, it is required that you have successfully completed high school.

3. You must be enrolled in a post-secondary or apprenticeship program for at least one semester.

4. An official high school transcript showing exceptional academic performance is required to increase your chances of being selected as a winner.

5. A valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) is mandatory for all applicants.

7. Having an Alberta student number is essential as it can impact your chances of being selected.

8. Make sure you have met the course requirements before submitting your application.

9. Please note that all Visa students are ineligible for this scholarship, regardless of their country or nationality.

10. Only one application is allowed per person, as previous winners are not eligible to apply.

Scholarship Application Opening Date

While the official opening date for the Alexander Rutherford scholarship has not been announced, based on the opening date from last year, we anticipate that it may begin in February.

The application process is expected to run for five months, starting from February and ending in July, providing ample time to complete all registration requirements.

Applying for the Alexander Rutherford scholarship

1. Confirm that you meet all the eligibility requirements listed above before submitting your application.

2. Create an account on the Alberta Student Aid portal or log in to your existing account.

3. Choose the Alexander Rutherford High School Achievement Scholarship option.

4. Provide accurate information and all necessary documents in the scholarship application form.

5. Double-check your application form before submitting it.

6. After you submit your application, the scholarship board will review it and verify your high school transcript.

7. Once your application is approved, you will receive an email from the scholarship board.

8. The email will contain a template that you must use to confirm your enrollment by obtaining your school’s signature.

9. Print out the attachment and send it to your post-secondary school or apprenticeship program for the required signature.

10. Once your school has signed the document, send it back to the scholarship committee for review.

11. Once the verification process is complete, you will receive a cheque from the scholarship board. This process may take up to a month after enrollment confirmation.

12. You can then proceed to cash the cheque.
