1. NFB Humanities Scholarship:

Each year at its National Convention in July, the National Federation of the Blind gives a broad array of scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars.
All applicants for these scholarships must be (1) legally blind and (2) pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time post-secondary course of study in the upcoming fall semester, in the United States, except that one scholarship may be given to a full-time employee also attending school part-time.
Recipients of Federation scholarships need not be members of the National Federation of the Blind.

2. Goodman Scholarship Fund
Application Deadline: March 1st
The Goodman Scholarship Fund was started by Frances L. Goodman in 1994 in memory of her late husband, Morton. She wanted to honor Morton’s twenty-five years of ministry at Owosso Wesleyan Church and his commitment to Christian higher education.
Frances preferred that the scholarship be given to an IWU student from the Department of Religion and Philosophy that demonstrates financial need.

3. Elmer and C. Berniece Warner Scholarship
Application Deadline: December 31th
This Scholarship is for students attending IWU and studying education or religion. Elmer and C. Berniece Warner began a scholarship fund in 1997 to benefit IWU students majoring in Religion and Philosophy of Education.
They wanted the scholarship to be awarded to students who are Michigan residents and whose lives are characterized by integrity, modesty, hard work and diligence. This fund is now advised by Indiana Wesleyan University.

4. Howard Rock Foundation Graduate Scholarship Prgm

5. Ferdinand Canning Scott Schiller Essay Prize in Philosophy

The F. C. S. Schiller Essay Prize in Philosophy is open to all UC Berkeley graduates and undergraduates of any department. This prize is awarded for the best essay on a specified topic relating to the work of Ferdinand Canning Scott Schiller. This biennial contest is offered in even-numbered years and will be offered in 2006-07.

College/Department: Humanities & Arts Academic excellence and a commitment to the study of the humanities are the primary criteria for awarding this scholarship.
The recipient of the Dr. Josephine Chandler Humanities Scholarship must be majoring in an academic program in one of the following departments: English, Foreign Languages, Humanities, or Philosophy.

12. Kenneth Alan Hovey Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Application Deadline: February 15th
For undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Kenneth Alan Hovey Endowed Memorial Scholarship is granted annually to those who have declared a major in English or Philosophy and Classics.
Eligible students must have completed at least 60 credits, be enrolled full-time with 12 or more credits per semester, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and demonstrate strong writing skills in a two-page submitted writing a sample.

Created by the University of Utah to memorialize two beloved philosophy professors, the Peter Appleby and William Whisner Scholarship is structured to provide up to $3,000 annually to full-time freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior-level undergraduate philosophy majors who have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

Established by Kathleen Gill who became the first woman ever hired by the Philosophy Department at St. Cloud State University, the Women in Philosophy Endowed Scholarship Program provides several annual awards for $1,000 to full-time female SCSU students who have declared a major or minor in philosophy.

Named for one of the most prominent figures in the history of early modern philosophy, the David Hume Scholarship is available for full-time junior or senior philosophy majors at Texas State University who compose the best paper in the analytical tradition of Hume with clear argumentation and scientific evidence.
