Here are some of the scholarships available in the UK for Nigerian students:

1. IOE Centenary Masters Scholarship

The IOE has introduced the Centenary Masters Scholarships for the academic year 2023/24.

These scholarships are designed for students who aspire to enhance the living conditions of marginalized, neglected, or underperforming members of society, either in their home country or elsewhere.

➢ Scholarship Value: The scholarships will encompass the entire cost of tuition fees and additionally cover one year of accommodation at the International Students House.

➢ Eligibility: To be eligible for the Centenary Master’s Scholarships, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

1. Be a resident of a qualifying low or lower-middle income country, as defined by the World Bank classification (refer to the aforementioned list)

2. Possess an unconditional offer from IOE to pursue a full-time master’s program (confirmed via an official letter from UCL Admissions)

3. Have not resided or studied in the UK previously.

2. Denys Holland Scholarship

The objective of the Denys Holland Scholarship is to assist undergraduates from all nations who would otherwise be unable to obtain the necessary funding to pursue their studies at UCL.

Additionally, applicants must demonstrate their commitment to making the most of the opportunities presented by UCL and the Student Union.

➢ Scholarship Value: This scholarship has a value of £9,000 and is awarded annually for a duration of three years. Nonetheless, its receipt is contingent upon maintaining acceptable academic progress.

2. Possess an active UCAS Application Number (not UCAS Registration Number)

3. Leiden University Excellence Scholarships (LexS)

The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) is accessible to exceptional students from non-EEA/non-EFTA countries who have enrolled in a full-time master’s degree program at Leiden University.

4. Bristol University Think Big Scholarships

The University of Bristol has allocated £500,000 to support the enrollment of the most brilliant international students.

The Think Big Undergraduate and Think Big Postgraduate scholarships are open to applicants who will begin their programs in 2023.

Scholarship Value

Scholarship awards valued at either £6,500 or £13,000 per year are available to undergraduate international students, which can only be applied towards tuition fees.

Eligibility

If you are classified as an overseas student for fee purposes and have applied to start a full-time undergraduate program, excluding Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science, or any one-year, full-time postgraduate program, or one of the eligible two-year programs – Social Work (MSc) and Law (MA) – at the University of Bristol in September 2023, you are eligible to apply for a Think Big Scholarship.

Deadline

The deadline to submit applications for undergraduate scholarships is February 27, 2023, at 10 am (UK time), while the deadline for postgraduate scholarships is April 24, 2023, at 10 am (UK time).

5. University of Twente Scholarships (UTS)

Exceptional students from EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA countries who apply for a graduate program (MSc) at the University of Twente can apply for the University Twente Scholarships (UTS).

Exceptional students from EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA countries who apply for a graduate program (MSc) at the University of Twente can apply for the University Twente Scholarships (UTS).

The value of the scholarship ranges from €3,000 to €22,000 for one year. Students who are pursuing a two-year study programme can be granted an additional University Twente Scholarship (UTS) with the same value as the first year, provided that they satisfy the UTS requirements.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a UTS, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Submit a separate application for the UT scholarship, in addition to their application for admission to a University of Twente Master’s program. Admission to the program must be secured before applying for the scholarship.

2. To be eligible for the University Twente Scholarships (UTS), applicants must have received provisional admission to one of the qualifying UT Master’s programs that start in September 2023.

3. Note that the results may take up to 8 weeks to be received after the application is completed.

4. Hold a student number.

5. Have not completed a University of Twente graduate program.

6. Meet the conditions for obtaining an entry visa to the Netherlands (if applicable).

7. Satisfy the general English language proficiency requirement of Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the speaking subscore.

8. If you are ineligible for a Dutch study loan and belong to the top 5-10% of your class, you may qualify for the University Twente Scholarship (UTS).

9. The UTS is a merit-based scholarship awarded to outstanding students who have been admitted to a qualifying UT Master’s program starting in September 2023.

Note that the UTS application is separate from the application for course entry at the University of Twente, and that you must have a student number and meet the English language proficiency requirements.

Deadline

The deadline for applications in Round 1, which opens on 15 October 2022, is 1 February 2023. The deadline for applications in Round 2, which opens on 1 February 2023, is 1 May 2023.

6. International Ambassador Scholarships

Exceptional students who want to represent the University of West London can apply for the International Ambassador Scholarship, which provides financial assistance as well.
