The Government of Canada is delighted to invite applications for the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program 2020-2021. 2. University of British Columbia Doctoral Fellowships in Canada

University of British Columbia is inviting applications for Graduate Global Leadership Fellowships for 2020-2021 academic year. And these Fellowships are open to promising leaders from developing countries to pursue doctoral studies at UBC.

Also, the University of British Columbia is offering Graduate Global Leadership Fellowships for 2020-2021 academic year. However, applicants must be a citizen of a developing country. And this is one of the International Scholarships for African Students. The fellowships are to support international students showing outstanding leadership in humanitarian and development work in their home country.

And as one of the world’s leading universities, the University of British Columbia creates an exceptional learning environment that fosters global citizenship, advances a civil and sustainable society, and supports outstanding research to serve the people of British Columbia, Canada, and the world.

Course Level

Fellowships are available to pursue Doctoral program.

Study Subject

Fellowships are awarded to learn any of the courses offered by the university.

Scholarship Award

Fellowships of $18,200 per year plus tuition for four years will be awarded.

Number of Scholarships

Two new fellowships will be offered each year.

Scholarship can be taken in Canada


Applicants must:

  • Hold a study permit at the beginning of the fellowship funding period
  • Also, must be a citizen of a developing country at the time of application for admission
  • And must have shown outstanding leadership in humanitarian and development work in their home country
  • Also, must be starting a PhD or DMA program at the UBC Vancouver campus in January 2020, May 2020, or September 2020
  • Furthermore, must be starting their first doctoral degree
  • Students with external funding (external scholarships, third-party sponsorship, etc.) are eligible to apply, but if successful, recipients will have their Graduate Global Leadership Fellowship funding reduced by the amount of their external funding


Applicants must be a citizen of a developing country (see the list of developing countries).

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must be starting a PhD or DMA program at the UBC Vancouver campus in January 2020, May 2020, or September 2020.

English language Requirements: Applicants must meet the English Language Requirements at the University of British Columbia.

How to Apply

A complete application package consists of:

  • Completed and signed Graduate Global Leadership Fellowship application form.
  • Academic records for all university-level studies (including studies undertaken but not completed) up to 31 December 2016. For institutions other than UBC, only official transcripts will be accepted. These may be original or certified true copies provided by the applicant’s graduate program. For UBC, the applicant’s “Academic History” printed from the SISC by the applicant’s graduate program will be accepted. Please note that students must request certified true copies of transcripts from their graduate program, not from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. If only unofficial admission transcripts are available, they will be accepted.
  • Two letters of reference. Letters of reference provided with student’s application for admission will be accepted.

3. Singapore Scholarships for International Students 2021

The National University of Singapore (Abbreviation: NUS) is an autonomous university in Singapore. Founded in 1905, it is the oldest institute of higher learning (IHL) in Singapore, as well as the largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered. NUS is a research-intensive, comprehensive university with an entrepreneurial dimension.

NUS is ranked among Asia’s top two universities in both the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2020. According to the latest 2018 QS World University Rankings, NUS is placed 15th in the world and 2nd in Asia. Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering is inviting applications for international scholarships.

Scholarships are available for pursuing Ph.D. research program in diverse fields at Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering to help students in upgrading their education. GRE is compulsory for all applicants, except NUS and NTU Bachelor degree holders and final-year undergraduates. Also, this is one of the International Scholarships for African Students.


  • Open worldwide.
  • Also, graduates with a passion for cross-disciplinary research in science, engineering, computing, and related aspects of medicine;
  • And, graduates with at least 2nd Upper Honours, or equivalent qualifications.
  • GRE is compulsory for all applicants, except NUS and NTU Bachelor degree holders and final-year undergraduates. Please note it cannot be substituted by GATE.
  • TOEFL / IELTS (either can be used) is only compulsory for applicants whose native language or medium of undergraduate instruction is not in English.


Monthly stipend, up to 4 years of the Ph.D. studies, OR up to the date of graduation, whichever is earlier, of:

  • SGD 3,500 for Singapore Citizens, plus Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions at a rate pegged to the prevailing employer’s contribution rate set by CPF;
  • Also, SGD 3,200 for Singapore Permanent Residents;
  • SGD 3,000 for International students.

Additional Benefits:

  • Full tuition fee subsidy for 4 years.

  • Also, applicants must reside in Ethiopia. And should school in Ethiopia.
  • And, applicants should be between the age of 18 to 30. Thus, an Applicants below the age of 30 stand a chance of being considered first.
  • Also, candidates above 30 are still considered. But it will depend on the person’s willingness to be a part of the scholarship and the appropriate impact they’ve made along the years.
  • And most people above 30 are considered to have lost motivation. Thus, the enthusiasm to get involved in extreme academic activities. As such, the person’s unreserved passion for academic excellence would be tested before being considered for the scholarship award.
  • Also, an applicant is not fully qualified if he or she hasn’t made an impact on agriculture. And poverty alleviation. As well as health, environment, and education as a whole.
