Columbia Business School – Columbia University is one of more than 800 institutions with graduate schools surveyed by U.S. News on an annual basis. Columbia University confers degrees through various schools, such as the Columbia Business School, the Law School, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of Nursing.
The Columbia Business School at Columbia University offers these departments and concentrations: accounting, consulting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, general management, health care administration, international business, leadership, marketing, not-for-profit management, production/operations management, portfolio management, real estate, quantitative analysis/statistics, and operations research, and technology.
Its tuition is full-time: $74,400 per year. At graduation, 75 percent of graduates of the full-time program are employed.

Programme Application Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution is required for admission to Columbia Business School. Applicants should scan and submit PDF versions of transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate institution from which they have received a degree.
Applicants should report their grade point average as it appears on their transcript.
– GMAT or GRE Score
All applicants must submit a self-reported GMAT or GRE score. Your scores must be valid when you submit your application. (CBS considers scores to be valid for five years after your test date).
Both the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) and Integrated Reasoning (IR) sections are required if you take the GMAT. If admitted, you must submit an official GMAT or GRE score. Columbia Business School’s GMAT code is QF8-N6-52 and its GRE code is 6442.
Applicants must complete one short answer question and three essays.

First-time applications require two recommendations unless applying for the Deferred Enrollment Program. Reapplicants are required to submit one new recommendation.
If you have been working full-time for at least six months, one recommendation should be from your current supervisor.
– Application Submitted/Received
Keep in mind applications cannot be reviewed until they are complete. Missing required materials, updated test scores, or additional materials must be received by the Admissions Office within three weeks of your application submission.
Applicants may be invited to interview with one of our alumni. In most cases, interviews are offered in the applicant’s geographic area, and invitations to interview can be sent at any time after a completed application has been received by the Admissions Office.
– Application Fee
The nonrefundable application fee for the Columbia Business School MBA Program is US$250. Applicants are strongly encouraged to pay this fee via credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) within the online application system in order to expedite the processing of their application.
– Re-applicant Checklist
Please note that candidates may only apply once to a given term of entry. Candidates may not apply twice to the same term of entry.
All admitted students are required to submit two nonrefundable tuition deposits to secure their place in the class after admission. Deposits will be applied directly towards your first semester’s tuition and fees.
Students admitted for the January-entry must submit the first deposit of $2,000.00 within two weeks of admission. The second deposit of $1,000 must be received by November 9, 2018.
2. The Doctoral Programme:
Columbia Business School offers an intensive Ph.D. program for those individuals interested in pursuing a career in research and/or teaching. The school’s rigorous program prepares students to move on to careers that help shape new business ideas and practices and influence future generations of business leaders.
The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is offered by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and is administered by the Business School. The Ph.D. program is full-time only; there is no part-time course of study. The average program completion time is five years. Throughout the program, students become familiar with research methods and the literature of their major fields through research projects and directed reading.
Doctoral Programme Requirements
– Online Application
All applicants must use the online application technology. Columbia Business School’s Doctoral Program does not distribute hard-copy applications or accept hard copy letters of recommendation.
A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, representing a four-year course of study in an accredited college or university, is required for admission.
A master’s degree is not required, although many applicants have a master’s degree in such fields as economics, engineering, psychology, and statistics.
– Application Fee
An application fee of $100 in the form of a credit or debit card must be submitted in tandem with your application. An application is not considered complete until the fee has been paid. You may use Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover when using our online application.
– GMAT or GRE
All applicants to all Divisions may take either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Test scores (GMAT, GRE, and TOEFL) should be self-reported within the application by inputting them into the test score section of the application.
All foreign applicants must also take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the IELTS unless they received a degree from an institution where English was the language of instruction. Two referees willing to complete letters of recommendation are required, however, a total of five may be submitted. The school will only accept letters of recommendation through our online system.
– Enrollment Commitment Deposit
Students admitted to the program are required to pay a deposit to reserve a place in the entering class. This commitment deposit can be waived for an applicant who is already a registered student at Columbia University. For those students receiving financial aid, this deposit is refunded after the successful completion of one term in the program;
A complete application containing all required components must be submitted no later than the deadline of January 7, 2019, for Fall 2019 entry. Applications received after this date will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.
