Overview of Ahmadu Bello University

The total student enrollment in the university’s degree and sub-degree programs is about 35,000, drawn from every state of Nigeria, from Africa, and from the rest of the world. There are about 1,400 academic and research staff and 5,000 support staff.

The Samaru campus houses the administrative offices, sciences, social sciences, arts and languages, education, environmental design, engineering, medical sciences agricultural sciences, and research facilities.

Ahmadu Bello University is a federal government research university located in Zaria, Kaduna State. It was founded on October 4, 1962, as the University of Northern Nigeria. ABU Admission List on School Portal

ABU first batch admission list is now available on the School Portal. follow the procedure outlined below to access your admission status:

  • Candidates are to go to https://putme.abu.edu.ng/
  • Enter your JAMB Registration Number in the required Column
  • Click on “Search” and proceed to view your admission status.

The admitted students should be advised to immediately upload their O’Level results on the JAMB portal. Those who have been offered courses different from what they applied for should also change the course to the new one on the JAMB portal.

History of ABU

The university has nurtured two new institutions: Bayero University Kano and the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University of Technology, Bauchi. Some 27 tertiary institutions made up of colleges of education, polytechnics, and schools of basic or preliminary studies are affiliated to it.

The Kongo campus hosts the Faculties of Law and Administration. The Faculty of Administration consists of Accounting, Business Administration, Local Government, and Development Studies and Public Administration Departments.

ABU Admission List on JAMB CAPS

To check your admission status on the JAMB admission status checking portal, follow the procedure outlined below to access your admission status:

  • Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility.
  • Log in to your Jamb profile with your username and password.
  • Scroll down then locate and click the ‘Check Admission Status‘ tab.
  • Choose your Exam year and Enter your registration number in the required columns.
  • Then, click on ‘Check Admission Status‘ to access your ABU admission status.

ABU General Admission Requirements

Generally, all courses will require five (5) credit passes in O level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB) in relevant subjects relating to the intended course of study. These O-level results should not be more than two (2) sittings.
