Bolt Online Registration Process

Bolt, formerly known as Taxify, is an Estonian transportation network company founded and headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. The company develops and operates the Bolt mobile application, which allows people to request a taxi or private driver from their smartphone, as well as electric scooters.

As of February 2019, Bolt operates in 30 countries and 50 cities in Europe, Africa, West Asia, North America, and Australia. The company has 25 million customers globally and more than 500,000 drivers use the platform to offer rides.

Bolt Online Registration Steps

Step 1

  1. Go to the signup page, submit your email, phone number and select your city. Proceed to the next page.

Step 2

  1. Fill in the page with your first name, last name and select your card details. If your car is not listed, please notify us through [email protected]. In the meantime, select the correct brand and any model and we will change your vehicle details for you later.
  2. The ticket box after referral box confirms that you have a vehicle less than 10 years old and it isn’t a taxi, government or rebranded vehicle
  3. Click Next from the page above

Step 3

  1. Fill in this page with your date of birth in the format shown. You will also need to provide your driver license number, which can be found on your driver license
  2. All ride-share drivers in NSW must hold a full, unrestricted license for over 12 months in the preceding 2 years
  3. If you have come from another state and held a full license there for over a year, please send your driving record plus images of the front and back of your license from your previous state to [email protected]. We require this as proof of you holding a full license; otherwise, you will be shown as ineligible in the Point to Point Portal. We cannot accept drivers until they are green for Licence Eligibility, P2P Eligibility and the Serious Driving Offence checker.
  4. Consent to upload your details into the Point to Point Portal will be requested
  5. Click Continue when you have filled your details to move to the next page

Step 4

7 uploads upfront is required (6 different types of documents) to submit your application. A summary of each document is listed below (see Document Requirements).

Driving Record: Common disqualifying offenses include those that have been committed in the last 10 years (duration quoted by Point to Point). These offenses can be found in the Driver Disqualifying Offence Search Register.

  1. Driving with middle or high-range PCA
  2. Driving while license suspended, canceled or disqualified
  3. Speeding in excess of 45km/h
  4. Driving causing grievous bodily harm or death

Hence, you will need to provide a full driving record for us to check for any disqualifying offense. Only records for less than 2 months old are accepted. If yours is older or you don’t have one, you can request a driving record.

Purchase the online one and upload the full PDFAfter uploading all the correct documents, click Continue to proceed to the next page.

Background Check: Disqualifying criminal offenses include those that have been committed in the last 10 years. These offenses can be found in the Driver Disqualifying Offence Search Register. Examples of offenses include:

  1. Stalk/intimidate intend fear of physical/mental harm
  2. Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO
  3. Causing grievous bodily harm with intent
  4. Resist officer in the execution of duty

You will need to provide a full background check for us to check for any disqualifying criminal offenses. Only background checks that are less than 6 months old are accepted. If yours is older or you don’t have one, you can purchase one at Checked at a cost of $39.05

Step 5

  1. Fill in all your banking information
  2. For the ACN field, if you are not a business, simply fill it in with no 
  3. All rideshare drivers must be registered for ABN and GST by law. See Registering for ABN and GST.
  4. Click Finish to submit your application

How Soon Will I be able to Start Driving?

Depending on the documents and requirements you are missing, the signup process can take anywhere from 1 hour to a couple of days.

You can start driving as soon as you get activated.

Bolt drivers must fulfill certain requirements to be considered for driving on the platform. To become a driver, please see the following steps:

Step 1: Register your profile

  1. Visit the driver sign up page to register
  2. If you have three or more vehicles, you can register as a fleet owner

Step 2: Attend training

  • 3. Once you have completed your registration and your documents have been verified, you will receive an invitation to attend an onboarding session

Step 3: Get your vehicle accredited

  • 4. Get your vehicle inspected at your nearest AutoGenius facility
  • 5. Purchase your Drivers Shield Cover

Step 4: Get activated

  • 6. Visit for an onboarding session Monday – Friday in Abuja (09:00 and 15:00) and Lagos (09:00 and 16:00):
    • Abuja: No 10, Volta Street (Off Thames Street), Maitama, Abuja
    • Lagos: 63 Razak Balogun Street, Surulere, Lagos State
  • 7. Visit us for an onboarding session Monday – Friday at 10:00 and 13:00 in Benin City, Ibadan and Owerri:
      • Benin City: Ehanire House, 34 Akpakpava Road Benin City. Benin
      • Ibadan: 2nd Floor, No 34 Samonda Road Ibadan
      • Owerri: No. B49/B66 L’Arcade Mall, 14C Okohia Layout, World Bank Area L, New Owerri, Imo State
  • 8. Bring the following required documents with you:
        • Valid Nigerian Drivers License
        • Valid AutoGenius Inspection Report

 I don’t drive full-time. Can I use Bolt for just a few hours a week?

A: Of course, some of the drivers are only active a few hours during weekends and make solid part-time income.
