The University of Abuja, Uniabuja has is fondly called is situated in the federal capital territory (FCT) and founded in 1988. The institution of higher learning is one of the notable universities with a difference in the country. It offers both postgraduate and undergraduate courses.

The University took off from a temporary site, made up of three blocks of building meant for a primary school in Gwagwalada, tagged the “mini-campus”.

Academic activities started on the mini – campus in 1990. In the same year, the University was allocated an expanse of land covering over 11,800 hectares along the Abuja city center – Gwagwalada road for the development of its main campus.

The University of Abuja, Gwagwalada mini-campus is the first campus of the university to be established at take-off time. Though the university is gradually relocating to the permanent site, up to this day, the campus still hosts two female hostels and a boys’ hostel making a total of three thousand students.

Among the landmarks on the campus includes the Senate Chamber, the Science Laboratories, Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Remedial Studies, and the Institute of Education.

The Key organs and officers involved in the administration and governance of the University are: the Governing Council, the Senate, the Congregation and the Convocation, the Vice-Chancellor, Two Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Administration and Academic), the Registrar and Secretary to Council, the Bursar, the University Librarian, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Centres and Institutes and Heads of Department. All these organs and officials are supported by the Committee system which is the pivot of administration of the University.

  • The Governing Council

The Council consists of the Chairman who is also the Pro-Chancellor of the University, the Vice-Chancellors (Administration and Academic) a representative of the Federal Ministry of Education.

Also, it contains four persons appointed by the National Council of Ministers representing broad national interests, four persons appointed by the Senate from its members, one person each appointed by the Congregation and the Convocation among their members and the Registrar as Secretary to Council.

The council is the highest policy-making organ of the University.

  • The Senate

The Senate is the highest University authority on academic matters. It is the general function of the Senate to organize and control teaching at the university and the admission and discipline of students, as well as the promotion of research.

The Senate comprises the Vice-Chancellor as Chairman, the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Professors, the University Librarian, Deans, Directors, and Deputy Deans, Heads of Academic Departments, one member of academic staff representing each Faculty and the Registrar as Secretary.

  • The Congregation

The Congregations is made up of all members of staff of the University who were university graduates by appointment.

Also, the Vice-Chancellor is its chairman and the Registrar is Secretary. Congregation meetings, being statutory, are called to afford members opportunities to have a say in matters affecting their welfare.

The university runs a consultancy services sub-degree program and an institute of education to cater to the professional needs of teachers and specialized needs of government education bodies.

Also, it provides avenues for the establishment of linkages on education matters with organizations and institutions in and outside Nigeria.

How to Register Courses Online on Uniabuja Portal

Your course registration begins with knowing the courses that you ought to register. You will need to visit your level adviser for guidance and once you have acquired this knowledge, you follow the steps below for course registration;

  • Log on to the institution’s website, https://www.uniabuja.edu.ng/
  • Navigate through and click on the “undergraduate” icon
  • Kindly click on “student login” on the following page
  • Next is to input your registration number and password and hit the login icon
  • Once successfully logged in, click on “My School” followed by “My registration” and the course registration page will come up.
  • Next is to select the session and semester by drill down from the change session menu
  • Also, choose your level via the drill-down and then click on change.
  • The course form will then come up and you can begin to register them one after the other.
  • Verify the registered courses and submit if no need for alterations. But if you still want to add or remove courses later, please save don’t submit.

How to Check Results on Uniabuja Portal

Checking your results online is a lot easier, just follow the steps highlighted below;

  • Log on to the institution’s website, https://www.uniabuja.edu.ng/
  • Navigate through and click on the “undergraduate” icon
  • Kindly click on “student login” on the following page
  • Next is to input your registration number and password and hit the login icon
  • Once successfully logged in, click on “My School”
  • Select the results option
  • Select the session and semester you wish to view its results and click on submit. The results will be displayed on the next page.

How to Pay Uniabuja School Fees

All students must know that all the payments whether for school fees, acceptance, hostel, etc are only payable online through the institution portal. To make the payment of your fees, here are the steps required;

  • Log on to the institution’s website, https://www.uniabuja.edu.ng/
  • Navigate through and click on the “undergraduate” icon
  • Kindly click on “student login” on the following page
  • Next is to input your registration number and password and hit the login icon
  • Upon successful login, navigate through and click on the “Pay Fees” tab
  • From here, select “School Fees”
  • Navigate and click on “Add selected items to My Feed list” followed by clicking on “Confirm Payment”
  • Next is to click on the “Remita” icon followed by the “Pay now” option
  • The details of the payment will come up. Endeavor to take note of your payment reference number before you proceed.
  • Then select your ATM card type (Verve, VisaCard, Master card) and then proceed.
  • Fill in your card details as required and make payment.
  • Print evidence of payment.

How to Check Admission List on Uniabuja Portal

On JAMB CAPS

The University of Abuja, UNIABUJA Admission List for the 2019/2020 academic session has been made available on JAMB’s Website. This is to inform all candidates who applied for admission to the University of Abuja and participated in the Post-UTME Screening that they can now check their admission status on JAMB CAPS.

Candidates that participated in the UNIABUJA post UTME screening exercise can now check their admission status online via the following procedure:

  • Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility.
  • Log in to your Jamb profile with your username and password.
  • Scroll down then locate and click the ‘Check Admission Status‘ tab.
  • Choose your Exam year and Enter your registration number in the required columns.
  • Then, click on ‘Check Admission Status‘ to access your UNIABUJA admission status.

On Uniabuja Portal

  • Go to the UNIABUJA admission portal at https://portal.uniabuja.edu.ng/.
  • Supply your JAMB registration number and Password in the required columns.
  • Finally, click on the ‘Login to Dashboard’ button to access your UNIABUJA 2019/2020 admission status.
