– CCNA Exam Fee –

CCNA Exam Fee: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) happens to be a second-level IT certification offered by Cisco. It is one of the most reputed and generally distinguished networking certifications in the industry.

The value of CCNA lies in the fact that it validates the capacity to install, operate, configure, and troubleshoot medium-sized routed and switched networks, including the verification and implementation of connections to remote sites in a WAN.

Cisco lists the CCNA certification as the prerequisite for most other Cisco certifications, including other Cisco CCNA concentration certifications, and this drives the popularity level of the examination.

 About CCNA Exams

The Cisco exams have changed several times in response to the changing IT trends. In 2013, Cisco announced an update to its certification program that “aligns certification and training curricula with evolving industry job roles.”

There are now several different types of Cisco-certified Network Associate, with “CCNA Routing and Switching” being closest to the original CCNA focus; other types of CCNA focus on security, cloud, collaboration, security operations, design, data center technologies, industrial plants, service providers, and wireless.

The content of the exams is proprietary. Cisco and its learning partners offer a variety of different training methods, including books published by Cisco Press, and online and classroom courses available under the title “Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices”.

To achieve CCNA Routing and Switching certification, one must earn a passing score on Cisco exam #200-125, or combined passing scores on both the “Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices 1” ICND1 #100-105 and “Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices 2” ICND2 #200-105 exams.

Passing the ICND1 exam grants the candidate the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification. At the completion of the exam, candidates receive a score report along with a score breakout by exam section and the passing score for the given exam.

The 200-125 CCNA is the composite exam associated with the Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching certification. This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge and skills required to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium-size enterprise branch network.

The topics include connecting to a WAN; implementing network security; network types; network media; routing and switching fundamentals; the TCP/IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies; operating and configuring IOS devices; extending switched networks with VLANs; determining IP routes; managing IP traffic with access lists and establishing point-to-point connections.

Types of CCNA Associate Certifications

The CCNA program began in 1998 with one core certification focused on network routing and switching, obtainable by passing a single 75-minute written exam.

Since then, Cisco expanded the program to cover many other facets of computer networking and network administration, offering certifications at five increasingly demanding levels: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert, and Architect. Currently, the CCNA specialized certifications are:

• CCNA Cloud

• CCNA Collaboration

• CCNA Cyber Ops

• CCNA Data Center

• CCNA Industrial

• CCNA Routing and Switching

• CCNA Security

• CCNA Service Provider

• CCNA Wireles

The Format of the Questions on the Exam

Generally speaking, there are various formats for the questions that you should expect on any Cisco certification (written) exam including:

• Multiple choices: Single answer and multiple answers

• Drag and drop

• Fill in the blanks

• Simulation

• Simlet

• Testlet

CCNA Exam Registration Information

Certification exams are offered at locations throughout the world. To register for an exam, contact Pearson VUE, the authorized test delivery partner of Cisco, who will administer the exam in a secure, proctored environment.

Cisco and Pearson VUE continue to lead the way to protect the value of your certification. We continually look for new and improved ways to protect personal investments in Cisco certifications and ensure that individuals who achieve certification possess the specified skills and knowledge.

How to Register for a CCNA exam

1. Decide which exam to take, noting the exam name and number. Refer to the Current Exam List webpage for exam details.

2. Gather personal information before exam registration which includes the following:

• Legal name (from government-issued ID)

• Cisco Certification ID (i.e. CSCO00000001) or Test ID number

• Company name

• Valid email address

• Method of payment

If you have ever taken a Cisco exam before, please locate your Cisco Certification ID (i.e. CSCO00000001) before continuing with your registration to avoid duplicate records and delays in receiving proper credit for your exams.

A valid email is required during exam registration. Cisco requires a valid email to send email reminders when a candidate’s certification is about to expire, confirm the mailing address before shipping out the certificate, and inform candidates if their certificate was returned due to an incorrect address.

Subjects of Study for CCNA Examination

The CCNA 640-802 exam includes a long list of subjects, such as:

• LAN Switching

• IP Routing (IPv4 and IPv6)

• IP Addressing (including VLSM)

• Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)

• WANs (point-to-point and Frame Relay)

• Cisco router and switch Command Line Interface (CLI)

• Routing Protocols (RP, EIGRP, OSPF)

• VLANs and VLAN trunking

• Network Address Translation (NAT)

Apart from these subjects, the CCNA exam expects students to know how to configure each topic, use commands to verify that each works in a correct manner, and troubleshoot problems with the help of a router/switch simulator on the exam.

What Score Do I Need to Pass CCN Exams?

According to Cisco, passing scores are not published because “exam questions and passing scores are subject to change without notice.” What this means is that you cannot be sure of the passing score until you get into the exam hall.

However, based on research, the passing score is usually between 800 and 850 out of a maximum of 1000. In terms of how the exam is scored, Cisco uses a point scaling system, on a scale of 300 to 1000.

So once you start the exam, you automatically have 300 points and as you answer questions correctly, your points increase. Of course, the fact that you do not know how questions are weighted means that you should try your best to answer as many questions correctly as possible.

How Long Do I Have to Wait If I Don’t Pass the First time?

The plan is to write an examination and pass it on the first try. However, life sometimes happens. In the case where a candidate fails the CCNA certification exam, that candidate must wait for at least 5 days, counting from the day after the failed exam, to retake that same exam.

For example, if a candidate fails on a Wednesday, the 5-day count will start from Thursday and run till the end of the day on Monday. Therefore, that candidate can retake the exam on Tuesday.

This is all you need to know about the CCNA examination and registration process. I believe that this article has helped you because it has been helpful to me. Please share with people around you who may need this information. Thanks for your time.
