In its efforts at reducing the unemployment rate among Nigerians, the federal government has released the link for the application to access the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) aimed at supporting innovative Nigerian youths between the ages of 18 and 35.

However, in a move that underscores his absolute confidence in the innovative skills, talents, and industry of the Nigerian youth.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday led the Federal Executive Council to approve the establishment of the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) to the tune of 75 billion naira for 3 years.

Dedicated to investing in the innovative ideas, skills & talents of Nigerian youths aimed at turning them into entrepreneurs, wealth creators and employers of labour

Objectives of the Scheme

Access – Improve access to finance for youth and youth-owned enterprises, for national development

Employment – Generate much-needed employment opportunities to curb youth restiveness.

Training – Boost the managerial capacity of the youth and develop their potential to become the future large corporate organisations.

Eligibility Guide

  1. Nigerian Youth within the age of 18 and 35 years

  2. Youths with Innovative ideas, skills, talents and enterprise

How it Works


  1. Submit An Application

Eligible applicants submit applications successfully on NMFB’s portal.


  1. Get Trained

Applicants to attend a compulsory entrepreneurship training with an approved Federal Ministry of Youth & Sports Development (FMYSD) EDIs


  1. Apply For Loan

Successfully trained prospective applicants proceed to NIRSAL Microfinance Bank (NMFB) portal to apply for the loan.


  1. Approval

NMFB conducts loan assessment in line with Risk Assessment Criteria and programme guideline, make the appropriate decision, and forward recommended applications to CBN for final approval.


  1. Disbursement

CBN reviews applications and gives final approval for disbursement to NMFB

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has been directed to immediately commence the process of operationalization and possible legislation of the NYIF in collaboration with relevant MDAs.
