– Tom Queba Scholarships –

Canon Collins is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students for their Tom Queba Scholarships. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

About Canon Collins

The Educational Trust for southern Africa was founded in 1981 by the British Defence and Aid Fund for Southern Africa (BDAF), principally by Ethel de Keyser, director of BDAF and Canon John Collins, the founder of BDAF.

After the passing of Canon Collins, the Trust was renamed the Canon Collins Educational Trust for southern Africa.

Aim and Benefits of Tom Queba Scholarships

In 2023, the value of the scholarship package is R85,000. Funding will be provided for up to a maximum of two years. We support both full and part-time study and will consider applications from those who wish to study by distance learning.

We also organise an annual conference for current scholars, and hold several smaller events throughout the year. Scholarship holders are expected to participate in these activities and to become part of and contribute to our network.

Requirements for Tom Queba Scholarships

Applicants must:

1. Be a black female national of, and normally resident in, South Africa

2. Be in possession of a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application

3. Be studying or applying to study at a Masters level in engineering subjects at a South African university

4. Preference will be given to those studying engineering subjects that have a societal benefit.
