1. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS)
Deadline: October 31st
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) was created to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and to establish Canada as a global center of excellence in research and higher learning. The scholarships are towards a doctoral degree (or combined MA/Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D.). The scholarship is worth $50,000 per year for three years.
2. FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship
Deadline: June 30th
FINCAD established the annual FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship to encourage and support outstanding women in the field of finance to pursue postgraduate-level studies. The field of study is graduate-level program in Finance with an emphasis on finance, particularly relating to the use of derivatives in capital markets and/or financial risk management. The scholarship is an award of US$10,000.
3. Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
Deadline: December 8th
Each year, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation awards up to fifteen doctoral scholarships to Canadian and foreign doctoral candidates pursuing research related to humanities and social sciences.
The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation scholarships provide $40,000 per year for three years, $20,000 per year for three years (as research and travel allowance) and an opportunity for a fourth year: writing or dissemination scholarship, among other benefits. The Graduate Global Leadership Fellowships enable promising leaders from developing countries to pursue doctoral studies at UBC. The fellowships are to support international students showing outstanding leadership in humanitarian and development work in their home country. The scholarship value is $18,200 per year plus tuition for four years.
5. PEO International Peace Scholarships for Women
Deadline: December 15th
The International Peace Scholarship Fund, established in 1949, is a program which provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada.
The scholarships are given as GRANTS-IN-AID and are not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses. The maximum scholarship amount for one (1) year of study is $12,500, based upon need. Lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual need.
6. University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) are merit-based awards that are open to students of any nationality who will be registered as full-time graduate students (Masters or Ph.D.) at the University of Manitoba.
The value of these fellowships is $18,000 (Ph.D.) and is $14,000 (Master’s) for a 12 month period. Students are eligible to receive the UMGF for the first 24 months of their Master’s program and the first 48 months of their Ph.D. program.
7. Ontario Graduate Scholarship

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program is funded by the provincial government to encourage excellence in graduate studies at the masters and doctoral levels. It is a merit-based scholarship and awards are available to students, including international students, in all disciplines of academic study.
The scholarship is valued at $15,000 per year. The minimum duration of the scholarship may be held for two consecutive terms.
8. Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships are offered by the Canadian government to international students undertaking postgraduate study within the natural and social sciences or health research. 70 fellowships are awarded annually; a total of up to 140 awards are active at any time. The scholarship is valued at $70,000 per year and for a maximum of 2 years.
9. Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s Program

The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS M) Program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies. The scholarship is valued at $17,500 for 12 months and non-renewable.
10. Ontario Trillium Scholarship
Ontario Trillium Scholarship program aims to attract more of the best qualified international students to Ontario for their Ph.D. studies. Recipients must be international students, who hold a valid Canadian study permit and must be intending to pursue full-time graduate studies at the doctoral level in a degree-granting program.
Each Ontario Trillium Scholarship is valued at $40,000 annually and is automatically renewable for an additional three years. Six new awardees are selected every year at Waterloo.
